Happy birthday Ian Davies.

May your future bring you more delusions of being a success in the exchange business.

Happy boyfday Ian, the older you get the more chance you have of forgetting this shithole i have the mis-fortune of living in.....HULL !!!

(see if they do a garlic chilli korai...highly recommended)

Thanks very much, everyone. B)

Being a bit of a foodie nutter, I drove up to London on Monday night with Felix, my 4yo son, where we visited The Lahore Kebab House (on Umberston Lane just off the Commercial Road near Aldgate, in case anyone is interested), my fave minmimalist Indian eaterie when I used to live in the old Metropolis.

After pigging out on their legendary chicken korai, roti breads and evil, chili-infested mint sauce, we took a further four portions back to darkest Basingstoke with us and so I can prolong this Indian grub pig-fest.

Bliss.

Thanks, again. B)

Venusian,

I lived in London for 18 years (1984-2002) and I can honestly say the only thing I miss about the place is the variety of restaurants.

Basingstoke is getting better slowly, but is still light years behind in that regard.

Swapping a Docklands appartment for a house with a garden for my son to play in more than compensates, though.

Shadow leader,

''Careful, two Indian takeaways in a week & you'll get fat!!! ''

How about four, then?

And ''get'' fat?

Too late missus.

Many thanks to you, Venusian, Martin and everyone for your kind words. B)

Happy Birthday Ian :)

I live in Docklands, very near where Ian used to live, the restaurants here are fantastic- New Chinese restaurant opened towards left side of Excel called Yi-Ban- very expensive but i highly recommend you should try it out.

Hope you had a good birthday, Ian.

I know the Lahore well, as I used to live one minute's walk from there (one of the big modern developments on Commercial Road just before you get to Umberston). It's a great spot; lovely grub and very cheap. The waiters are good craic, too. Or at least they were three years ago.
