Wes Ward has already unleashed some two year old beasts in France this Summer which have absolutely battered everything put infront of them. Presumably they were all preps for Ascot, it's now our time to be on the receiving end of it, at Folkestone of all places....

From the RP:

MIKE SMITH, who partnered the brilliant Zenyatta in 17 of her 20 races, including her heartbreaking sole defeat in the Breeders' Cup Classic last year, is set to have his first ride in Britain when he travels to Folkestone next Thursday.

Smith, who won the Kentucky Derby on Giacomo in 2005 and was aboard Zenyatta when she won theClassic in 2009, rides Royal Ascot hopeful Gentlemans Code for trainer Wesley Ward, who enjoyed success at the royal meeting with juveniles Strike The Tiger and Jealous Again two years ago.

Kate Hills, director of public relations for Folkestone's owners Arena Leisure, said on Wednesday: "We are absolutely delighted Wesley has decided to run Gentlemans Code at Folkestone - it will be a different experience for him.

"We are also looking forward to welcoming Mike Smith, it will certainly be a highlight for Kent's only racecourse."
Eclipse-winning rider Smith famously broke down in a post-race press conference after Zenyatta's Classic defeat to Blame, saying he had given the wonder mare too much to do.

They haven't got on the plane yet. It's next Thursday along with a super card at Sandown. After the shite racing the last few days it will be a welcome relief.

Gentlemans Code wins easily enough at Folkestone but not like a 1/6 shot.

That's now 5 runners in Europe this year and 5 winners as he's had another winner at Longchamp this afternoon.

Seeing that 2-y-o yesterday reminded me, whatever did happen to Jealous Again? Godolphin confirmed last autumn that she has been retired.
