I have a tale to tell....

One Sunday in late March three years ago, after a hugely enjoyable and successful day, I was stood in the betting ring at Maisemore Point-to-Point as they opened up on the concluding bumper.

A group of lads in their late teens were there too.

One of them, maybe a year or two older than the others, approached a bookmaker, took out a wad of cash and asked for £1,000 on the favourite.

The price was quickly slashed.

It transpired all the lads were connected with the horse and had clubbed together to get the bet on.

The horse started 6/4 favourite and tanked the entire race, led on the bit 2f out, and won by the easiest 2.25l hard held you'll ever see.

It then went to Stratford and won a Bumper under rules.

It hasn't won in five attempts since, but it's having its second run off a Wind Op tomorrow after an eye-catching effort at Ascot.

I managed to organise getting 16/1 and 14s earlier in the day and it was 10/1 best last time I looked.

The name of the horse is Patanita and it runs in the 4.35 at Wincanton tomorrow.

5 + 3 = ?
