What Do Krizon And Sir Cliff Have In Common ?

That ain't all we have in common. A certain amount of facial maturity (aka wrinkles) would appear to be another.

For a self-styled oenophile you're not up with it this year, are you, old fruit? Blush is the colour of this summer, and there is a fab variety to choose from New World pinks, roses (should have an accent, can't be arsed to remember how to do it), including - much as you will froth at the mouth - Mateus. Mateus may have once been considered naff, as all of the pinks once were, but that's just one of the many snobby pretensions of wine drinkers.

Wine, like any alcohol, should be a pleasure for the drinker, not a question of whether it's fashionable or considered de trop. It would be a heavy old summer or autumn afternoon (although no doubt suited to old fogeys) to be glugging anything heavier than a chilly Pinot Grigio, in my opinion (currently trading at 98p).

Cheers!

Back in the dark ages c1980, I was cook/housekeeper to Tommy Steele. He has a wonderful C17th mansion near Richmond, on the edge of the park, which has a proper vaulted wine celler. The only wine kept down there was Blue Nun! Sorry, but I *am* a bit of a wine snob. I really do loathe all that spraying of champagne ef in Formula 1. If they only knew what skill and time it takes to make the stuff, they'd use Asti Spumante or Cava.

One day at the Steele's a fan came down the drive and refused to leave. He was looking for Cliff Richard. We told him he'd got a bit confused, and this was Tommy's place anyway, so he needed to go to Weybridge, but he refused to believe us.

Blue Nun, eh? Gosh, it's a shame you're not still there, Headstrong, or Ardross would be over like a shot! One of his favourites, when he's not on the Lambrini.

No! That explains his irrational sniping at me - I'd cottoned on to the Blossom Hill before him, and you KNOW how vicious he gets whenever someone beats him to be first in the know about the finer things in life. Really, Pee, he'll be upwardly mobilizing himself towards Black Tower next, and Snowballs at Christmas.

Blush - you ought to Aunty K drinking that stuff. Blossom Hill apparently is referred to by Dante in the Inferno .

PDJ you can talk - until I got you onto Sancerre I understand your regular tipple began with Country and ended with Manor .
