1) Apple
2) Android
3) Windows 5

I am currently in the process of building an app, and have the software to make for any one of the above. But before I do even start choosing, I want to hear other's opinions. My own personal experience has seen me use the Apple Apps only. However recently I got to use a friend's new Samsung Galaxy with the Android technology and can say was thoroughly impressed.

The Windows 5 on Nokia Lumia is something I am not familiar with, but would appreciate comments from anyone who has used this at all. Any benefits?

Can be either personal choice or preference for technology?

Your best bet is to make a Web App - check out the Kendo UI from Telerik. A single web app which can be released onto iPhone and Android.

Windows phone 7 is a dead duck - wouldn't waste any time on it whatsoever until Windows 8 is released. A pity because it had potential, but Microsoft rushed it too much.

Do an iOS version first - you're effectively only developing for a single device (unless you do an iPad version too) in which the vast majority of users are using the latest version of the operating system, allowing you to exploit the full range of available APIs with few worries about what's happening on the user's end.

If it does well, then consider an Android version.
