I fully support the expanded programme for fillies and mares. The syndicate I’m part of would scarcely exist without it.

But the Mares Hurdle is taking too many viable runners out of the Champion Hurdle. Stage a Grade 2 mares hurdle at the festival and a Grade 1 race at Sandown.
