Just heard the story on the radio and thought I'd dig it out. The audience were very impressed by the actors portrayal of his heart attack... little did they realise just why he was so convincing

I remember laughing my head off watching Tommy Cooper clutch at the stage curtain, thinking he was pretending to have a seizure of some sort. I was stunned and deeply saddened to hear later that evening that my favourite comedian had died.

In many respects it was probably the way he would have liked to go? (we all do in the end).

Having said that, to suffer a heart attack at the precise point in the play that the character your playing is supposed to, really is bad luck
