Good morning all you very knowledgeable people at Talking Horses, I wonder if you can help me. I am writing a book to be published next year celebrating 150 years of racing at Wincanton ( strictly speaking Hatherleigh and then Wincanton). It will be a 'coffee table' type book - photographs with short stories as opposed to an illustrated history. I am keeping it relatively light hearted (Harwell Lad / Ian Balding in the water etc) as well as bringing in the horses who won/ran there and went on to great things ( Brown Jack, Crisp, Silver Buck, The Dikler etc etc - there are dozens of them). Actually anything that is interesting / amusing / unusual about Wincanton. Any ideas anyone?! I would be very grateful for any input at all.
Best, George.

Welcome to the forum George.
best of luck with your book.
E P Harty had a witty anecdote of Toby Balding's from when he wrote in Irish Field c2009; whether it referred to Wincanton or not I cannot be sure but worth a check out.

Thanks edgt; I will follow it up. Seeing where you live, you may be amused that the stable name of one of our pt to pters is Corky - yup, he came from Cork! If he's half as good as Tippy he will be wonderful!
