Windows 8 techy help!

Had my pc for 5 weeks & haven't had an issue until the last few days, I keep getting a windows box come up saying I need to close programs in IE as my memory is running low, but I haven't got anything open apart from internet explorer, I was thinking it may be a virus so have run scans & malware but nothing has come up,

I have started the task menu up when this box appears & its saying I am using 83% of my memory yet nothing is open

At a complete loss :confused:
 
In Task Manager, click on the Processes tab and then sort the list by Memory. What are the first few entries, and how much memory are they taking up?
 
You haven't been caught with one of those dodgy toolbars have you? The ones that are packaged with other downloads and you must untick the box otherwise you get something you don't want.
 
Also, the exact wording of the message you're getting would be good (a screenshot even better).
 
I'm in the task manager = memory but I can't see how you sort the list by memory

I have noticed something odd though it says I have 6GB but only 2 GB seems to be available there is a line drawn across the grid at the 2gb level

How do you do a screen shot? I'll do one when the box reappears

Alt + Print Screen button will just take a screenshot of the current window (make sure task manager is the active window).

This will then be on your clipboard and can be pasted wherever you like.
