We are indebted to the current sponsors of our three competitions who have once again generously agreed to offer a sum of £100 for the winners of each competition, namely swedish chef for the TTF, Grasshopper for the AP and Grey for the WC.

Roddy Owen will be sponsoring the £50 prize for top scoring Dark Horse in the TTF whilst Perpetual has kindly offered to sponsor the prize of £50 for the most valuable pre-Festival portfolio in the AP whilst there is also a perpetual trophy, donated by Tout Seul in memory of the late Alan Morgan, which is also sent or presented to the winner of the AP who twelve months or so later has it engraved with the name of the next winner and forwards it to them and so on each year.

Both TTF and AP competitions are scheduled to start on November 1[SUP]st[/SUP] this season. Formats remain the same for all three competitions. It is planned to post the list of horses and rules for the TTF and rules for the AP at least ten days before their respective starts however the list of horses and rules for the TTF can be posted earlier if requested but carry an increased risk of including horses OFS.

Early in 2018, depending on number of entries, we run the inaugural "Talking Horses Tjukurrpa Trophy " competition (formerly the National Hunt Cup) sponsored by edgt and timed to ensure running the Semi Finals and Final over the new Leopardstown February Festival weekend (Irish Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup) on Feb 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] and 4[SUP]th[/SUP] , the prize of which is a decorated and engraved hip flask along with a Club Enclosure ticket for one day at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival to enable a proper presentation of same trophy outside the Mandarin bar where Forum members gather each year. For those not familiar with the format this is a knockout competition run over four or five Saturday afternoons where members are paired in head to head matches making selections in the first six races at a NH meeting, choice of meeting being down to the member being drawn “at home”.

For those who like to have an interest, especially watching NH races at home, we will also run one or two “just for fun” tipping competitions during the Winter (that is unless someone comes up with a small prize which is always welcome). Further to that Perpetual has offered a prize of Mark Howard’s One Jump Ahead book for the 2017/2018 season which we will use as a prize for a two day competition on the weekend of Oct 14[SUP]th[/SUP] and 15[SUP]th[/SUP] involving Chepstow’s opening two day fixture.
