"wtc Survivor" Virus Via E-mail

I've just opened an e-mail from friends warning me not to open any e-mails with the subject 'WTC Survivor' (ie World Trade Center), as it contains a virus which, they say, will destroy the computer's 'C' drive.

For whatever it's worth, and I know nothing about viruses or computers :shy: to be able to verify it, it might just be worth deleting anything with that subject if it's in your Inbox.
 
Oh, for goodness sake! Bad enough we get real viruses, without damn fools making hoax ones. Thanks, Merlin, I'll send a 'reply all' to my friends and their 5,000 contacts and tell them it's not real.
 
Yes, you're right, Gareth - the friends who mailed me the warning had sent it to about 30 other people in the same mailing! My McAfee didn't want to send a response from me to 'Reply All' saying it was a hoax, as I think it thought it was a worm. But I forced it to!
