Did your xmas book presents live up to expectations or have you donated them to the Sally Ann already ?
I got the Christopher Meyer book DC Confidential and inspite of a somewhat self congratulatory tone I am actually enjoying it . I watched the Commons commitee meeting recently where his interlocutors actually made me think there was something to his case so vehment were they in denouncing him without trial . It just piqued my interest further to read his book and it is good . It's not all about Tony and Gordon although there are some juicy bits but as political memoirs go it exposed some of the seedier and more calculating aspects of New Labour but ultimately the quagmire of european politics . If you ever wondered why we've never agreed on the euro read this . I don't envy Tony his job .

I got that too and had read it by the end of Boxing Day - very enjoyable . A very good complement to Ivor Herbert's classic .

No but aren't some of the stories in it about Shadow Leader in her young wild days ;)

Erm - younger, don't you mean?? Don't tar us all with the same brush....;)

That's a good point, mind - best get hold of a copy to check!!!

Just got Andy Flintoff and Richie Benaud's latest books.

Currently reading Frankies autobiography and still have loads of racing books to read including the original Arkle book, the Persian Punch tribute, a few racing autobiographies and some of the more recent racing thrillers.

Not on a racing theme, but I got Rik Mayall's Autobiography - The Rik Mayall, Bigger Than Hitler, Better Than Christ. It's hysterically funny.

Ive just finsihed Dawn Til Dusk. as i only read non-fiction i found it a very good read. some funny stories of what soem great horses got upto at home!

fopr christmas i got the vincent o'brien book. which im about to start...

It's second in the list for when I finish or rather re-start the Northern Dancer book.

Recommend the Monarchos book Horse of a Different Colour aswell :)

I got three books. Hot Cherry, From Here To Maternity by Mel Giedroyc (very very funny) and the Jools Oliver pregnancy book the title of which escapes me. Have finished the Jools Oliver one and will keep it because it's got some good recipes for babies in it, read and have since sold the Mel Giedroyc one in aid of a dog rescue and I'm half way through Hot Cherry.

I guess it surprises me that you found this one funny - because I can't stand Mel whateverhernameis! I find her so groaningly unfunny & silly, I really do - so I was very disappointed to see that the luverly Richard Hammond's new "5'o'Clock Show" features her in it too.... :what: I watched the first 2 thinking "you've gotta give her a go, she may not be so bad without that hideous Sue Perkins" but alas, she was even worse than I remembered her!!!!

I did too. I used to love Mel and Sue!! Mind you I was a student at the time....
I loved watching them cook. And it was always lovely when they had Jean Christophe Novelli on :D

Light Lunch was funny a few years back but they bombed when they tried to go primetime
