Only the one bet at York tomorrow.
Ehraz started his racing life in a 13 runner Class 3 Maiden at Newmarket over 7 furlongs. He had a slow start and was held in the rear until he started to challenge two out when he was a good few lengths behind the eventual winner, Noble Truth, who was also starting to move from mid field at that point. At the 1 furlong mark he was still 2 lengths behind Noble Truth - who had got to third by then - and the two of them moved clear of the field with that deficit maintained and without either of them coming under great pressure. The sectionals give an idea of how the finish went:
F6 F7 LAST 3 F
Noble Truth 10.63 12.44 34.05
Ehraz 10.31 12.59 33.81
From there Ehraz then contested a 6 furlong Class 5 Maiden at Ascot where he was mildly shaken up with a furlong left and spreadeagled the 11 strong field to win with ease by some 4 lengths. It was an impressive performance, but it was only a Class 5 and you would have expected him to deal with them pretty easily.
So far as tomorrow’s race is concerned I am happy to take Ehraz against Dubawi Legend who had an impressive debut at Doncaster (earning the highest debut RPR since 2016), but a bit concerned whether he can pick up the couple of lengths on Noble Truth who can also be expected to have come on bit although it was his second run. See how the market goes and may have a saver (which would almost guarantee Dubawi Legend !!)
