York - Day 1
It’s going to be a quiet day. I had only been looking at one proper bet, but Nostrum has ducked the Acombe so left with nothing but a couple of fun bets. There is Baaeed to savour, though, and I wouldn’t dream of betting against him. I do hope Mishriff runs well as he looks as though he might be getting a bit difficult to handle.
4:10 I thought Zoffee was up for it at Newmarket with Frankie aboard. He ran well, nicely placed on the rail going into the lead in the final furlong and it was a shame the main challenge came from the centre of the track leaving him nothing to race against. Only 7th next time at Goodwood, but I think this is back to a more comfortable distance for him and I think he’ll be competitive. Got an almost subconscious nagging for Alfred Boucher as well and will probably have a small play bet on both.
5:20 fraught with danger this one, full of excitable 2yo with 11 of them having their debut handicap. What could go wrong! I did have Utilis noted after his 80/1 debut at Doncaster over 7f where he pulled far too hard to start with before showing a fine turn of foot latterly before fading. Hasn’t shone in his next two, but might have collected a workable opening mark and 6f here might suit. On the wrong side of the draw, though, which doesn’t help. Another small (very) bet just for fun. Six places at 22/1 available as I write.
