Two bets today (Hark! Did I hear the bookies cheer.)
Berkshire Shadow
In his first race at Newbury over 5f on good ground he dwelt at the start and quickly fell half a dozen lengths behind the leader. It was some performance to come through and win from there. He followed that with an excellent win in the Coventry at Ascot over 6f on good to firm ground, again with a late and powerful surge. Seven furlongs on soft came next at Goodwood where he came second to Angel Bleu who he had left well down the field in the Coventry. Reportedly not liking the ground.
He’s back to 6f in the Gimcrack and he is my best bet of the week - although that doesn’t amount to much given the first two days!
Arecibo
I was impressed by his 28/1 second place in the King’s Stand where he was held up by JPS (as usual!!) and still had fourteen of them in front of him with a furlong to go. (His finishing sectional was best of all I believe). Following that race he should have put one to bed when dropped to Grade 3 at Sandown, but got to the front early and wandered about a bit. Good run to second, though. The King George at Goodwood came next and fourth again (behind Suesa and Dragon Symbol who re-oppose today.
I think he deserves his place at the top table and he has an outside chance of winning and an excellent chance of an extended place.
