I think everyone’s a bit quick to condemn Dettori’s ride on Gregory, but I do agree with Simon Rowlands, as reported by desert - post #89, that there is not as much between him and the winner as it seemed.

Thursday

To think I was worried that Dragon Leader might get found out jumping up to a Class2 race from his earlier Class4 wins. He was mighty impressive, smashing the opposition and he looks as though he can take another jump in Class quite comfortably. Could be very good indeed.

I think if the Yorkshire Oaks was re-run several times Free Wind would win most of them. She was boxed in just when it mattered, had a bit of argybarg getting clear and only just failed by a head in the end.

In the Henry Cecil Scenic looked to be travelling quite comfortably in mid-field, but met trouble several times where it mattered and couldn’t get a clear run. Whether she would have featured otherwise is maybe doubtful, but she’s one to watch.

Friday

Kylian started favourite in the Gimcrack, but could only manage sixth. He’s better than that having to be snatched up four out which couldn’t have helped, then denied a clear run approaching the last furlong. He’d certainly have been a lot closer without all that.

In the last another favourite, Tafreej, got away slowly and was at the back of the field for most of the way and had to wait for a clear run a couple out. Finished strongly and got to third, but was run out of that at the death.

Saturday

I think it’s quite likely that Ehraz was set-up for this race as it was his debut handicap. If so, he shouldn’t go up much and looks a money back shot for next time. In any event, it was a good run into third considering he was racing on his own out wide. He was always going easily.
