Currently our MP in St. Helens South is Sean "I'm Labour now" Woodward, parachuted in 2 weeks before the last general election as he defected and guess what? he won. Shocking given that Labour could put up a trained chimp and they'd still get in.

Come on Lib Dem, though i don't actually think they'll win :(

Who's your MP and is he/she as big a prat as Mr. Woodward?
Martin

We have the pint-sized Tory MP, Adrian Flook (an unfortunate surname for a politico, methinks).

When extremely bored, it's quite a local pastime to play Where's Wally? - or in this case, Flook, in the local rags, as I've never known anyone get the mugshot into a paper so often!

He's a whole load better than his predecessor, tho' - the large and gobby Jackie Ballard - Lib Dem. She put me off voting L-D bigtime.

He put me off with his "spin" and visiting us in college (just as i was turning 18) and having seen the speech he gave i am under no illusions that there will be huge cutbacks bearing in mind that it would cost according to him 8 billion to abolish tuition fees, what did we do before that? where did this 8 billion go? did we blow up Iraq with it? etc all questions he evaded.

Jim Knight, Labour MP for South Dorset.

Don't like him as he let me down really badly last year. I was meant to meet him at Westminster during a lobby on National Endometriosis Awareness Day. I booked him three months in advance. The day before, his secretary left me a message to say he wouldn't be in Westminster so couldn't see me. I wasn't impressed, as I had written him a letter, 5 A4 pages long, explaining all about the problems women with endometriosis face - he never did a thing after this, couldn't even bother to address the points. I felt very let down over the whole thing.

It would have been bad enough left at that.

Several weeks ago I was called at home by a representative of Mr Knight's. He was asking for feedback. I explained that I had felt let down, and detailed the above incident. Would anyone like to guess what happened next?

He hung up on me.

I've reported this to Jim Knight's constituency office and have had no explanation or real apology for being called up in my own home and then hung up on. Common courtesy is completely lacking.

I despair.

We have the pint-sized Tory MP, Adrian Flook (an unfortunate surname for a politico, methinks).

We have the man whose name is ready-made for rhyming slang - Crispin Blunt.

He is, of course, a Conservative with a healthy majority of over 8,000. He was once Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary and then Tim Yeo's deputy as Shadow Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. He resigned from the front bench in 2003 as he considered Iain Duncan Smith to be "a handicap".

He seems to have abstained on the hunting ban vote.

He is 45 and married with two children. His background is a military one - Wellington, Sandhurst, Royal Hussars. He resigned his commission in 1991 to enter politics. He was first elected to parliament in 1997, having replaced the execrable George Gardiner, who retired, as MP for Reigate.

His interests include travel, bridge, food and wine, historical novels but mainly his family and cricket. Crispin plays for the Lords and Commons team, and the Reigate Priory Cavaliers.

He will be re-elected on May 5th.

The "estimable" Chris Bryant, Labour, probably most famous for appearing in the "red-tops" in his Y-fronts. A red-headed homosexual standing in an old coal-mining and he'll still win with a massive majority.

If the term "red-headed homosexual" offends anyone please feel free to delete the red-headed part.

Colin

Peter Kilfoyle Liverpool Walton, who has Labours 5th safest seat, he and his office were very helpful when he was dealing with a few questions I need answering last year. I doubt he will be looking in the Situations Vacant anytime soon.

Paul Tyler, Liberal Democrat but now retiring (who voted against a ban on hunting)
His replacement is Dan Rogerson who came calling at the door, a good two months ago. Would think he will hold the seat fairly comfortably.

Having just realised my area has been 'moved' into a new constituency, I also realised I no longer have a clue who my MP is. I don't know if it's still the old one or if we just have to do without until the election.

Who is our MP ?

If I remember correctly ours was all for morality and family values.

What's he do

Has an affair
Switches to another party but doesn't stand down
He is standing down now and advising voters to vote for the party he left. He is now trying to return to the original party.

That should narrow it down !!

Richard Burden, seems a decent enough bloke and will also be re elected on Thursday but without my vote.

The MP for Newbury is David Rendell, a pompous arse. I am hoping against hope that Richard Benyon will oust him this time around.

There is an interesting piece in the RP today about the parliamentary candidates in racing constituencies - the stuff they wrote about Rendell is, I believe, incorrect, or at the very least, heavily biased in his favour. It is mentioned that Rendel was vice-chairman of the all-party Racing and Bloodstock Committee in the last parliament; however there is no mention of the outrage he sparked throughout racing & Lambourn in particular (being the local MP) when he was so outspoken against foxhunting - something for which there is widespread support in racing circles, especially the predominently NH Lambourn area. I know for a fact that the large National Hunt community in Lambourn is not in favour of David Rendel yet if you read the piece in the RP you would certainly be forgiven for thinking he is popular. There is also no mention of Richard Benyon despite the article saying that it is a two horse race with the Conservatives and a close one, at that. Richard is well known & liked in the area - he is a local landowner & is well known amongst the equine community as he is often out with the Hunt & he was a polo player for many years. I would be interested to hear the point of view of someone like Love Everlasting who would have a good idea of the current opinion in Lambourn - I would be very surprised if Richard Benyon is not the popular choice in the area, despite the piece in the RP indicating that Rendel is popular in Lambourn.

Shadow Leader - you greatly over-estimate the fox-hunters' influence in Newbury. Rendell is 1/4 to win, you can get 6/5 Benyon or 14/1 any other.

(I know it's a rip-off margin - it's not mine!)

Mr Marsden? Latey

The very personable Peter Ainsworth, who had a minor shadow role on rural matters a few years ago.

He resigned the post to spend more time with his wife who's been suffering from cancer.

For many years the seat was Geoffrey Howe's

I don't know his name but he was recently deselected for making money from his position, which only fuelled my belief that they are all in it for their own self satisfaction be it monetary or power

I don't know, Brian, I'm hopeful, not confident that Richard will get in - unfortunately I am afraid that you are right & Rendel will be re-elected. I'd have thought it would be closer than Rendel being a 1/4 shot though. You're right, too - those margins are disgusting - whose are they???!!!!
