One of my favourite horses of all time, Zipping has won today's Group 1 Australian Cup in a hard fought win.
It was also another new Group 1 winner for the great late Danehill and probably will be his last.
What a moment it was when the great 8yo got his nose over the line in front of top wfa performer Sirmione.
For those that don't know Zipping, he has been one of racing's true marvels over these past 6 years. Since then, he has run in 3 Melbourne Cups and placed 4th in two of those runnings. He has also run in 3 Cox Plates and run 2nd and 3rd. He also managed to make the Caulfield Cup as well. Prior to today's Group 1 victory, he had managed to win the Sandown Classic, a Group 2 $500,000 WFA event at the end of spring carnival for the past 3 consecutive years.
Here is a picture of this great little horse, that finally broke his maiden in one of Australia's best wfa events. The picture is courtesy of Kristen Manning.
