The 2025 Dash Handicap

Not to be confused with the 3yo Dash.

23 entries and always interesting to see a one-time Cornwallis winner (Twilight Jet) running off 93 and 66/1 in places, even if I could have probably beaten it the way it ran at Windsor.

Previous winner Tees Spirit on a going day, would have a chance here. Like the aforementioned Twilight Jet, he has a very disappointing lto performance to his name.
25s.

Twilight Jet also holds an engagement in the last over 6f, which tbh might be a more suitable trip for him nowadays.

We shall see.

I'm hearing talk of 14mm of rain coming in from Norway early Saturday morning and, if it materialises, the super highway superglued to the Stands' rail will be the place to be.

The Bell Conductor has two ways of running - he can be slowly away and he can make all.

If it's the former, he's beat before they get 50 yards from Tattenham Corner station, but if the old boy can get out smartly from his high draw, 33/1 will be too big about what happens in the next minute.

Twilight Jet now runs in the last, where he would be well overpriced at 50s on old form, but I've organised getting the early 25/1 Purest Time, who has form in the mud in France.

The 3yo race is of not interest to me as I don't really look at the 3yo form this early in the season beyond the important races but I've done this old duffers' race:

Last year's winner, Dream Composer, is too big at around 20/1 to ignore, and the same can be said for Tees Spirit ( the 2022 winner ). Existent is on a losing run of 40 and is too consistent for his own good. He's now six pounds higher than when finishing second to Spartan Arrow over course and distance in April, and will probably finish well after finding trouble in running.

Dave Nevison on Racing TV also likes Fair Wind. The ground doesn't look soft enough for a run down the stands rail to guarantee a win. Drizzle has started at Epsom though yesterday's forecasts indicated rain for most of the day. ( The winning time for the 3yo Dash was 56.75 seconds compared to 55.62 in 2024.)
