The 2025 Royal Ascot Tuesday Thread

Is Moore on the right one in the Coventry?

I personally wouldn’t back either. They both have similar profiles, albeit Warsaw looks bred to improve at three. Gstaad just looks a sprinter. If you read the quotes after both horses won their maidens, they’re dripping with admissions that they were doing nothing at home. They’re priced on the names on the card next to them and the colours, and not much else.

Is anyone else having bother with Oddschecker and being coerced into subscribing?
Yep, been going on for a while. Seems to let you look at few each day, then the coercion begins.
I just switch to ATR racecards and tick show all runners. Depending on the time of day, the flashing fluctuations are a bit much, but it's quite a bit faster at updating than oddchecker imo. Racing Post has similar feature, but less books to compare.
EasyBet and Bestbetting are no more.

Do we have a Royal Ascot Saturday thread, or does the BHA confirmation system rest on a Sunday?

25 years following the game and I still know nothing.
You answered your own question, so "I still know nothing" is you being harsh on yourself - I'd defend you and say you "know a bit" at the very least! 😂

Five-day entries/confirmations for Saturday will indeed be tomorrow and I'll start a thread then.

I actually thought about driving up there and walking the course.

I've done it before and my track record on being able to do it unchallenged is nigh on impeccable - the minute they realise you love the game (and aren't about to set fire to a fence or something 😂) they're usually chilled about it.

Telling Salisbury's CoC all about Mill Reef making his debut there worked a treat last time I was challenged - I swear he waved me on just to get rid of me and stop me boring him into a coma! 😂

But it's pointless doing it any other time than Monday evening, as they could chuck a load of water on it subsequent to my visit.

And to do it, it needs to be done properly which doesn't just mean choosing one racing line.

And at 62 my manic enthusiasm for walking the straight and round courses multiple times isn't what it was. 😂

I do think it might be as quick as it ever gets there nowadays and I think that obviously makes life tougher for some and better for others.

In my book there's a few at double-digit prices who possibly should be single-figure prices.

I doubt if Carl Spackler would be the price he is in the USA, but then this isn't a sharp left-handed track; Diego Velazquez is a horse I've always liked; and in the Wolferton my old friend Haatem might appreciate a rare crack at a resilient surface, King's Gambit seems to like it on top and I can't believe Ambiente Friendly has become as bad as recent runs suggest.

He broke the clock on demonstrably quick ground at Lingfield last year and might have made City Of Troy work harder if ridden the same way at Epsom.

Oh and I can totally see the case for My Mate Mozzie in the last.

Just thinking out loud, really, I'll make up my mind Tuesday morning when I've seen more data.

Plus I don't actually have to bet - there might be something better at Beverley! 😂

Good luck all.

Without meaning to come across as either cynical or disbelieving: As an 8 year old child you travelled to Salisbury and lectured/informed/alerted the COC on Mill Reef's debut?

Impressive. I have 8YO grandkids who have trouble tying their shoelaces.

I'd be very sweet on Diego if he hadn't been naughty before being withdrawn last time. Can see him in the first 3.

He barely stays 12f on the level. I think he's a place lay.
The 2m1f on the New Course at Cheltenham takes some getting and I'd expect any horse who won the Triumph Hurdle the way Poniros did to get at least 1m6f back on the Flat.

2m4f is something else again, but the trainer has had a few who maybe didn't look naturals for an extreme stamina test on the level, yet got the trip no bother.

Imo,the Queen Anne is all about pace and stamina, and Lead Artist looks the standout bet on both counts and the current 9/2 appeals greatly to kick off on the right note.

This is a big assumption. If you look through the horse's flat form, you'll see they had no idea what trip he wanted. There's nothing in the formbook to suggest the horse will stay. The fact that it's the stable's second choice is the most obvious indicator.

Goingstick: Stands side: 8.1, Centre: 8.4, Far side: 8.4. Round: 7.2. Soil Moisture: 37%. Readings taken on Monday 16th June at 8.30am. Goingstick and moisture readings will now be taken daily by 8.30am.

Some may recall I put up Lead Artist when he was about 18/1 for the Lockinge.

This was partly because I thought the ground at Newbury would be quicker than at Sandown Park, to his possible benefit and to Dancing Gemini's possible detriment.

The ground might be quick again tomorrow.

Lead Artist isn't the value here he was at Newbury, but I wouldn't just assume Rosallion and Notable Speech will beat him this time simply because they've now had a run.

An incredible piece of aftertiming.

It's a long time since I saw Don take advantage of Jellaby unseating Brian Taylor in this and since then I've been at my closest track to see Frankel win it among others.

Anyway, the times today suggest it might be a bit quick for Dancing Gemini, Notable Speech and Rosallion look short enough after lay-offs and, in the "Dead Eight," 18/1 Lead Artist interests me somewhat each-way.

Poor at Sandown Park, but progressive last year and the yard is in form.

Someone ask him to stop following me round threads like a puppy 😂 - I've told him once, I won't respond to him any more in the interests of forum harmony.

Ascot is stiffer than Newbury so that will be in Lead Artist's favour
Hannon can get one ready first time out for a big one but naturally I'm hoping Rosallion will naturally come on for it

Looks like Sardinian Warrior has been taken out of the Queen Anne.

I need to rethink the race. That was my fancy.

Gigolo put up three including Cardiff By The Sea. When I looked at the horses form I had to take a punt at 25/1.

Owners are Coolmore and friends. Interesting that Jamie Spencer or Seamie Heffernan don't ride. They've gone to the trouble of getting Oisin Murphy.
