The 2025 Royal Ascot Thursday Thread

Sheikh Mo still not gracing a British racecourse - he turns up to the sales but not the races.

I'm not having a bad day but shades of the Hunt Cup there in the Britannia. My main bet was Fifth Column at 25/1 and it won the race on the far side. Call it a winner without a penalty. It's a just a matter of what they'll target next.

They wouldn't let me bet any more than £20. I just presumed that was the max as they don't restrict me normally.

Saeed Bin Suroor leading in his big race winners is reminiscent of Vincent O'Brien leading in Nijinsky and College Chapel after his Cork and Orrery win .
Nobody on tv made an issue of it with him or among themselves.

I respect SbS hugely. I'd love to know why Godolphin demoted him to Div II but he still produces the goods, especially in big handicaps.

He went through a fairly lean spell IIRC? Then Al Zarooni happened and Appleby arrived as a temporary replacement. He quickly showed he was pretty good and so they seemed to send the better horses to him so SbS got relegated. I think Appleby has the advantage of being a better public communicator. Not dismissing SbS, but he has English as a second language so doesn't come across so smoothly.
