So, Goodwood. What a beautiful track it is, set deep in the West Sussex countryside. The festival itself provides any amount of spectacle and, more often than not, drama in the form of rough races, plenty of in-running traps within which to sit and suffer and stacks of horses for the notebook. My normal MO is to keep the bets few and modest.

Today I have two main fancies:

Scandinavia - 3.05 Goodwood 3/1 Win

I noted this one two runs ago, where I commented that he looked like a proper stayer. He certainly enhanced that opinion last time out when he won with ease. I feel he may be a bit special, this one. I could have had him at 12's earlier in the piece but I wasn't sure he would run.

Jakajaro - 3.45 Goodwood 9/1 Ew

This went down as one to note last time out when he was done no favours at all in running and I even wondered whether he'd take up his Stewards entry. Well, he's swerved that for a tilt at this and he's a nice price, too.
I will also have a back-up bet on the top weight Shagraan who, I think, put in an improved performance in a GP 3 at Sandown.

2 x Singles
ew Double

Elsewhere I have fancies going at nice prices so a small ew patent will suffice, to include the aforementioned Shagraan:

Sir Busker - Goodwood 1.20 28/1
Shagraan - Goodwood 3.45 13/2
More Coko - Galway 5.37 16/1

Ew Patent

Good luck.

Jakajaro - 3.45 Goodwood 9/1 Ew

I mentioned him on here prior to that run at Ascot and my immediate thought afterwards was the Stewards Cup. He is still entered in that, currently 40/1, and I’d be more interested in him if he ran in that, although I’ve still backed him today anyway. I’m sure there is a good race in him.

Well happy with that. Scandinavia does indeed prove to be "a bit special." A lovely price, too.

Another winner, another profit.

I'm such a happy one after that awful run of losers. Will I keep it up? Highly unlikely, of course but nice while it lasts.

I tell you what, Mr, he'll get 6f, no problems and although one might say Jamie misjudged that, who knows?
Could it be that he will run in the Stewards? He'll get in.

Well, blow me: I backed Jakajaro Ew and it paid 6 places. Since he finished 6th, I get a profit on the single bet and an placed double with Scandinavia. So, more profit than I first thought.

Chuffed.
