Unlucky last time in Ireland against good mares, bit outpaced over mile and a quarter round the curragh and lacked tactical pace to get herself out of trouble but stuck on nicely.. entered at Cork on Thursday next week 14th August upped to 1m4f if Prescott takes it over to Ireland again I will be backing it. Prescott ran her in pretty polly first time up for him shows he holds her in high regard and after 2 runs this season should now be spot on. No idea if they will declare her for Cork but the Yorkshire oaks her other entry may be aiming a bit too high. Keep an eye on her. No doubt she will win soon if placed correctly and Prescott the man for that

There are also entries for the Arc and the mares' race on Champions Day at Ascot. She's German owned so the Group 1s in late September at Cologne and early November in Munich over a mile and a half which Alpinista won as a 4-year-old can't be ruled out.

Yes great point about the German races I think shes likely to go there unless minnie and kalpana dont go to ascot. Can't see her going to york with minnie hauk odds on there think the quick track wouldn't quite suit her either on quick ground. Was thinking about doing her each way at ascot but them German races you have mentioned I think I'll leave it for now but if shes over 2s depending on the field at Cork I think ill have a punt on the nose

I think Minnie Hauk is a terrible price for the Yorkshire Oaks.

I can see at least two in the ante-post list who, if they showed up, I'd fancy to turn her over.

Yeah it's not a race I'm having a bet in. Who do you fancy against her? I've just put a video up on YouTube today of my three ante post fancies maranoa charlie at York , lazy griff St leger and kalpana in the arc 477/1 the treble

I like to get my bets on before having those discussions.

If either of the two I am interested in make it to the 48-hour declarations and the ground is right for them, I'll happily discuss it after I've had a bet.

But you'll gladly take a price that I point out is a rick. There is a word for you in Dublin.

I know, it's shocking isn't it?

Whatever the word is, it's probably too polite.

Joking aside if you'd asked everyone to hold fire because you're not on yet, I actually would've done.

Or get on before naming the horse - I do that a lot and I can think of at least one other forumite who says he does the same.

Anyway, you've shamed me (quite a feat as I have no shame) into full disclosure.

It's a no brainer Whirl wouldn't be the price she is if she's running (she probably isn't) and how can an Arc runner up and recent second to the King George winner be 12 times the price of a filly who's never met an older horse yet?

Aventure must be doubtful too, or they think the ground will be like a road.

I honestly don't think mentioning two fillies for a Group One will affect the price. I also suspect you're wrong about Minnie.
I'm with slim on this one thats why i wondered what you fancied against her. Bedtime story first time at 1m4f is interesting but id rather back her at ascot in october when kalpana and minnie might have ran in the arc 2 weeks previous and ryan might be on ...

See. That's wasn't hard!

they know a lot more than us
If you honestly believe that, I don't understand why you even bet.

They may well get non runner information, so go top price until withdrawal, but odds compilers make ricks most days of the week.

I'd say your average trading room odds compiler knows more than your average racing media tipster, but a professional, or even semi-professional, punter knows more.

In fact, finding the ricks is the easy bit - getting on soon becomes harder and, nowadays, getting paid out without drama can be harder still.

Just my opinion, an opinion no one is obliged to share, based on personal experience over the years.

Maybe over the years errors by odds compilers were easier to find and certainly when they price up first show they make mistakes and looking at races months in advance you can get value ... but 2 weeks out of a group 1 the bookies know the score. Hence the defensive price on whirl.

Plus it doesn't take much research to find out yourself if you can be bothered...

'I never lost confidence in him' - Francis Graffard eyes King George after Calandagan roars to first Group 1 win at Saint-Cloud

“Aventure ran really well,” said Ferland. “Calandagan is a rock, he has a real turn of foot. To finish second in a Group 1 against the boys is great and we were beaten by the better horse. Next stop will be the Prix Jean Romanet.”

"It would be a fascinating showdown but one we will have to wait for. Minnie Hauk is being trained for the Yorkshire Oaks, while the Prix Vermeille, Irish Champion Stakes, Champion Stakes and Breeders' Cup were all mentioned for Whirl, who was also cut to 7-1 joint-favourite alongside Kalpana for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October."

If you want £100 bet that one of them will be declared at york im happy to take that bet that neither will be declared

I'm surprised if you've been doing this for years you are waiting on horses getting declared that have no intention of running, based on information in the public domain. At least you are sensible enough not to get enticed by the bookies odds giving inflated prices ante post , pro gamblers and odds compilers both know they won't run at york. I dont know what that makes you but sounds like you just nick other people's info on 'ricks' haha.

I hope this hasn't shamed you twice in the space of an hour :)

It's because information is in the public domain that I don't take much notice of it.

I am only interested in seeing what others can't see.

Trainers generally do what they say they are going to, but not always.

Put it this way, I wouldn't be backing Minnie Hauk at current odds, while horses I think could beat her are still in the entries.

No, you haven't shamed me - just made me smile.

I've seen too many come and go for that.

You can't see Minnie Hawk is the best filly this season.
I can't, actually, and at the odds I'll be happy to be wrong on that.

I bet Minnie Hauk and put her up here in the Oaks, but I think Whirl has been the more impressive since and that's leaving aside the debate over how vigorous a ride Whirl got in the finish at Epsom.

And I'd say Minnie Hauk has still got a fair bit to prove.

If she was a bigger price it would be different, but seems like the world and his wife is all over her.

I actually think the general consensus is with you. Punters are two races too late with Whirl.

I wouldn't dispute that.

The Yorkshire Oaks may cut right up and Minnie Hauk may end up winning it at 4/11, but I'll be waiting on the decs and the weather with this one.

I apparently had my settings in recluse mode - I've amended them so anyone who has put up back-to-back winners this week can message me.

How very brave of me!
