The Will Win Thread

Cotswold Cottage 3/1

Cotswold Cottage landed a very quiet touch at Windsor on its first run in a handicap off 51. To say it hacked up would be an understatement—and it only got 5 lbs. Connections claimed it didn’t handle the track after nine months off on its last run, which is unusual to even get a comment for a 56-rated horse. The trip today is no concern, and while the horse handles soft ground, I don’t think it particularly needs it. I suspect it has at least a stone in hand and should just be winning.

(Completely forgot to back it though.)

It's beyond time, Maurice, that you finally accepted that you need to employ me as your carer.

My rates are very reasonable (just your life savings) and I am prepared to go that extra mile and lightly beat you over the back of the head with an old Celtic FC match-day programme every day until you've remembered to get all your bets on.

Don't ask me to do anything else, though, as I'll be out food shopping.

No worries Luke at some point the forum are having it right off, whether it's the racing league, the shitty shergar cup, Arc day or Cheltenham festival. We're assembling a dream team of punters the end result is inevitable, it's just a case of when.

When I say we're assembling a dream team im not really including myself im just a chubby mascot here to keep up morale.

I'd actually had a decent week -First off Dessie put me off a strong fancy at Goodwood on Tuesday. My strongest two bets of the week won on Thursday. The Friday of Galway is a traditional day in the pub with the lads and we managed to win the placepot at Galway which paid €1029.50 and typical of the way things go when your luck is in we backed a 3/1 winner with the loose €29.50.
Sometimes you can win a few quid in the most random fashion,

Leopardstown 6.58
Sons And Lovers 2/1

I backed this horse at Ascot and thought it got an ordinary enough ride from the front but was only beaten two lengths. I'd forgive any horse an ordinary run at Ascot.

Today, in theory, it steps up in class, but this is essentially a match race and there are reasons to suspect that Crystal Black is priced on last year's form, which I'm not certain it will necessarily reproduce. On its first run back this season, it was beaten 1½ lengths by Sons And Lovers and the market is assuming that it will reverse that form—why?

Crystal Black being missing all summer is curious, and it's a 7yo that's had a wind op. I think it's very tight in the betting when there are some unknowns. Sons And Lovers will run its race and at 2/1 it's a very good opportunity to bet against a curious favourite.

I believe the en vogue phrase of the day is: "Just back f$%^ing winners?"

😂

That's the hat-trick - the fella is in rude form.

Thank you again, Slim. I was out making merry in town last night, and tried to convince a mate to stick a fiver on. Sadly, he had a luckless afternoon, and had just lost £20 on online bets - he couldn’t be persuaded. I had lost a similar amount, but I was now “back in the game” thanks to you, pal.

Apologies for the essay, btw.
