Yes, the six-day entries/confirmations will be with us within the hour.

All roads lead to York, to the Knavesmire (or in my case to the sofa so I can watch on my phone).

I'm excited and if you're not too, you're a misery and deserving of about as good a York as Dick Turpin had the last time he was on the Knavesmire.

Have you not got Rewards for Racing.

Biggest betting day of the year for me
No I have booked my table in the local wetherspoons armed with my laptop and will watch the racing whilst getting slowly sozzled.
I did use to earn rewards for racing points but that dried up when I told Bet365 where to shove their account.

I'm going Saturday, which I'm not particularly looking forward to. She wouldn't take Friday off work.😡
I only ever went to the first day (1980-1983) and I'd say the racing is of the highest quality and the crowds (in my day at least) were of manageable levels that day.

Decent card on Ebor Day, but I'd be dreading the crowd - last time I went racing on a Saturday was Beverley Bullet Day about three years ago and, while it was a magical homecoming, by the end of the afternoon it was more like surviving a Tour Of Duty.

I hope you still have a good day - backing the Ebor winner would help!

My wife dragged me to York races on Ebor day the year Sonnyboyliston won as we were on a weekend break in York at the time.
We left the racecourse to the sound of "we all hate Leeds scum" being sung by all sorts of sets of football fans.
My wife turned to me and said "that's the last time I'm going racing with you!!!
That was the best result I'd had all day!!!!

I was on Quickthorn that day, still don't know how he didn't win that, based on his career afterwards.

Sonny did win the Irish St Leger next time out, so I guess he was in the form of his life.

Incidentally he's now with none other than Charles Byrnes, and won his maiden hurdle a couple months ago.

Watch the space.

It will be my first Ebor in 25 years.
A repeat of that day will do just fine. 3 winners.
Prince Alex in the first
Give the slip in the Ebor itself
Honesty Fair in the last race. Trained by a certain Jeremy Glover ( 14/1 ).
Happy days.

I'm puzzled. Today's Racing Post News section has a feature " One eyecatching entry to note in each of the supporting races on York's Ebor Festival day one card ". The horse mentioned for the 4:10 race is A Dream To Share with a write-up about his win in the 2023 Cheltenham Bumper and win on the Flat in a Leopardstown maiden this June. Helpfully included within the piece is a red box to view the racecard which shows 18 entries none of which is A Dream To Share.

Where's he gone? Can a horse be entered for the five-day stage and then that entry be withdrawn before an official cut-off point?

Was he expunged? The UK handicapper was under no obligation to give him a mark.
I think he was entered - but can't prove it - for the valuable Connacht Hotel (QR) Handicap on the Monday of the Galway Festival, but wasn't declared to run. He was subsequently a non-runner in a non-handicap later in the week. It could be that the Irish handicapper is refusing to give the horse a handicap rating on the basis of two 4ths in maidens over a mile and seven furlongs, and then a win in a QR race over nearly two miles. But it must be fairly unusual not to handicap a horse with form figures of 441.

I did a compare and contrast with Synergism, one of Sir Mark Prescott's three-year-olds. 10/12, 7/7 and 9/9, all over six and seven furlongs last October. He's won off 57, 68, 72, and 72 plus the 6 pound penalty. That's the way to do it. And he's got an entry for Thursday's Racing League at Newcastle.

If he was entered for York, he'll have been expunged because the UK handicapper isn't obliged to give the horse a mark. There were enough races for the horse to stop this from happening — no excuses.

He's had the three runs required for a mark.

Aftertiming of the highest order there Robbi ;)

For anyone new to this, I've noticed Aidan O'Brien's and Willie Mullins's admin often declare late (like 9.59am) while smaller outfits tend to declare earlier.
