The 2025 York August Meeting Day 2 (Thursday) Thread

I took 13/2 about Dance in the Storm the other day and thought the price at the time was not over generous.
Best price 5/2 now - what do I know?
Should have a great chance and 13/2 looking good.

5/2 looks very skinny in such a competitive race though and as I thought the race looked too hard, and apart from the 3.00, I can’t find much to bet on, I’ve had a small interest on Mollie Foster at 33/1. I thought she might have been a bit better than she has shown so far this season, so I’m hoping today’s the day she puts her best foot forward.

Here are 12 beasts I've been considering for the seven contests on tomorrow's card: Royal Fixation 1.50, Song Of The Clyde 2.25, Anthelia 2.25, Remmooz 3.00, Leadman 3.00, Bullet Point 3.00, Blue For You 3.00, Aeolian 4.10, Rainbow Edge 4.10, Just A Dream 4.45, Dance In The Storm 5.20, Eternal Sunshine 5.20.
One's prospects of hot food over the forthcoming Bank Holiday Weekend are initially enhanced.

Seeing as one burgled a bit of 11/1 Song Of The Clyde, yes, hot food is now assured.

I believe the apposite contemporary phrase at this juncture is "kaboom?"

I personally prefer "Ah, smug mode:"

Have you got a wheelbarrow?

I think that Clipper race is shit hot form but because it was a crowded finish the beaten horses won't go up much if anything. The winner might get five or six pounds but others only a pound or two max. They will be very competitive in any £100k handicap they target.

Another mega-handicap won by a heavily backed favourite. I thought 11/4 was just too tight for me to use it as cover for the other bets given there were a few of them but it won with something to spare. A wee bit annoying as I backed it the last twice, including when 'winning' the wrong side in the Hunt Cup.

O'Meara is a proper bandit and in a sense I'm glad none of his won. Duke's Command had earthly right to finish in the top ten in that race but there it was running on strongly to contend the minor places (instead of making the running as I'd hoped) at 100/1 or something like that. At least Cerulean Bay covered most of my bets on the race so losses are very light.

Not as yet, but I'm hoping to be able to move to an area with a garden centre so I can acquire one.

I won’t lie, not putting five up in a race each-way four places was mildly disappointing.

Aeolian would be very much my angle in the 4.10. You don’t need two bullets there.

I shall endeavour to do better.

And I hope you're right about the Galtres - that's the one I want for the dollars in that contest.

It's not often you see the second colours and the quick runs is interesting. I just worry about the ground being too quick.

I thought that looked the value at 40/1 and backed her and stablemate, same owners, Dukes Command at 100/1 + boost). I actually think Dukes Command may be better with a little ease in the ground, but the only time he encountered it, was withdrawn because of unsuitable ground! I’m thinking he might pick up a race in the Autumn, but would hate to see him win this if I hadn’t at least had something on.
Just watched Ruby Walsh’s analysis of the 3.00. He pointed out that the first five were all in the front line throughout and those at that back had no chance the way the race turned out. Dukes Command (who I had backed with boosts at 130/1 and 117.27/1) ended up 2l off the winner and a head behind the 5th in 6th having had to take a slightly circuitous route from the back. He wasn’t unlucky for the win, but was for the place. Although 6 places were available, I can’t use Bet365, Paddy Power or Skybet so of course for me he had to be in the first 5!

Ah well, that is Racing.

A very nice run by Estrange there given the ground.

Maybe somebody with an eye for it will say if she looked as though she wasn't letting herself down once the race got serious but she will almost certainly improve for the run and a bit of juice in the ground.

Edit - Tudhope not using the ground as an excuse but said she might be better with give. Also interesting that he said she was outstayed and 10f might be her trip. I reckon I can say goodbye to that Arc bet.

Strong fancy for Dance in the Storm in the closer. She was badly drawn in a handicap against the boys at the Glorious meeting and almost got up to beat Mudbir - she wasn't great from the stalls and was taken to the inside and did not have a trouble free passage - she did really well to finish as close as she did. This race isn't as strong and tbf she's not got the best of draws here either but it's not quite as much of a factor at York. Only bet on the day for me.
7/1 into 7/4 fav and Oisin rapes me again. I hope he crashes on the way home (is he allowed to drive)
