Thinking about yesterdays 80/1 winner at Newbury, Into the Night.
What's everyones thoughts. I was mightily impressed. Market leaders were 2nd, 3rd + 4th. I suppose it's only a matter of time before Watthan or anyone else comes knocking.

I never express a view any more without first finding out what Simon Rowlands and Angus McNae think and consulting Walsworth's latest trainers in form (a month ago) figures then dividing by the square root of the OR and adding a slice of black forest gateaux for the final result.

Did look a decent 2yo, though.

Christ. Me running two accounts on here is really hard.

Well, Timeform were impressed. They gave him a rating of 107 which is the highest rating given to a debutant this season so far and puts him inside the top ten seen out.

I know if it was a Coolmoore, Godolphin, Juddmonte owned youngster, we'd still be having it rammed down our throats.

Can't see any Big Race entries for it.

Looks a sprinter to me on pedigree.

25,000gns yearling - isn't there some Sales race it can run in and win by ten?

"The first key is to try and keep him in the yard," the trainer said. "The phone has been red-hot and we're working on ways to achieve that.

"We'd be foolish not to have a look at the Mill Reef. He's a horse who shows fantastic speed and back to Newbury for a six-furlong Group 2 would be extremely exciting. He's come out of the race really well, we've got three weeks until then so that's very much on the radar.

"And then I wouldn't worry to much if we didn't run him again this season after that, but we'll just have to see and take it step by step."

I reckon his biggest headache is going to be how to keep him.

Absolutely

“Another youngster who made a big impression on debut earlier in the week was Into The Sky who could hardly have won any more impressively or easily in a maiden at Newbury, with his winning distance over the second-placed Dark Shore, a horse who had already run to a Timeform rating of 82, ending up being returned as seven and a half lengths.

Wide-margin wins in two-year-old races at Newbury aren’t unusual – there have been fourteen since 2015 when the winner won by further than five lengths – but not at odds of 80/1 (twelve of the other thirteen started at 5/2 or shorter) or trained by Jim Boyle who had only trained a handful of juvenile winners previously, never had one rated by Timeform higher than 85 and never had one win first time out either.

On the face of it, Into The Sky, who posted a 98 timefigure, very high for one first time out, is a very promising youngster but all the contributory factors just mentioned together with the fact that he has no forthcoming big-race entries and the straight six and a half furlongs he won over is a rarely-used or familiar distance and I’d probably encourage a degree of caution when assessing him going forwards.

Hopefully he’ll not turn out to be a flash in the pan like another two-year-old who created a very good impression while running a very high timefigure (109) first time out back in 2023 (Asadna, if you’ve forgotten his name) but if nothing else it was further evidence that his sire Starman is rapidly becoming a sire of note.” Graeme North, Sporting Life

We had a walk through Commonstown last week as guests of Jessie Harrington.
We were told it was a difficult year for juveniles as the ground dried up too quick early spring so they were not forward enough for the turf races as they came along.
Consequently they are behind where they should be so a lot of horses have not run yet.
I imagine this is not just a "Jessie problem ".
It could make for a busy few final weeks once the ground does not disappear for them.

Look at the Ascot 2.20 today. Mad for this time of year.

Baaeed never made it to the track at two.

Hukum did and won a Maiden second time out.

Raaheeb, their full brother, has delivered at the first time of asking.

I wouldn't lay the 25/1 for the 2,000 Guineas or the 33s for The Derby.
