Point Blank: ‘The Lads’ Have a Ryan Moore Problem
The biggest story in racing broke yesterday.
The reason why I'm giving this the ultimate emoji endorsement is I had literally just arrived on this forum to start a "Moore or less?" thread about a host of horses being priced up ante-post on the assumption Ryan Moore will ride them that now won't be.![]()

Aren’t most top jockeys carrying some sort of injury? Christophe Soumillon was at his strongest in France today, but one wonders how often he can go to the well like that. Not saying I'm wedded to this notion, but just want to throw it out there.
Wayne Lordan has ridden four winners so far this weekend, small beer races, but he's got the job done.
If Moore was riding with a fracture for two months, did he always get the best out of his mounts?
Was Mr "Iron Man," "Made Of Concrete," as Aidan O'Brien has been saying, in pain while riding?
Only Moore knows the answer to that one, or whether he concealed anything in the ultimately vain hope of shrugging off something as yet undiagnosed that was bothering him so he could keep riding?
If that's the case, could another jockey actually do better on horses Moore rode while this issue was developing?
Or have I just had too indulgent a Sunday lunch?
I'm sure that's correct, but obviously there are injuries and there are injuries.Aren’t most top jockeys carrying some sort of injury?
Racing Post: "Aidan O’Brien has revealed Christophe Soumillon will be a big part of the Ballydoyle team in the coming months while Ryan Moore is out of action with a broken leg."I’ve heard that Soumillon was already contacted yesterday morning about coming over to ride for them regularly. I don’t know if this will be announced publicly or not.

Slim KNEW.^
"The Daily Talking Horses:" FIRST with the news.
I had to look up what races they had in mind, because the ground could really go against him at Ascot. Breeders’ Cup and Japan Cup — that means going 12f. Am I being ridiculous to say this is really bad race planning? It’s really tough to place a 10f beast after the Irish Champion. He could have cemented his career at Leopardstown.Ombudsman not taking on Del Boy now in the Irish Champion. Being freshened up for an Autumn campaign.
This is getting ridiculous - I was about to post that Ombudsman will be lucky to get his ground at Ascot (6/4 is dreadful).the ground could really go against him at Ascot.
He could end up taking on nothing at Del Mar, and of the three races that’s probably where I’d bet him. I’ve just seen he’s around 4/1–5/1 for that. I’d struggle to see him go off that price at Del Mar. It could be the race of the meeting taking on Calandagan — but didn’t they find an excuse not to run in the race last year? This is getting ridiculous - I was about to post that Ombudsman will be lucky to get his ground at Ascot (6/4 is dreadful).
Tbh, I can see why they wouldn't want to take on a mobhanded entry at Leopardstown,
I'd go straight for the Breeders' Cup Turf now - the horse clearly stays 1m2f110yds well and it's a tight 1m4f round Del Mar.
If he wins that, the Japan Cup becomes a free bet at the end of his career.
They could've run Birr Castle again to counteract the mob. Strange decision to me. Could've run in both Champion races + try + cement himself as 10f top dog. Obviously a Godolphin decision. This is getting ridiculous - I was about to post that Ombudsman will be lucky to get his ground at Ascot (6/4 is dreadful).

Even bigger to small money on the machine. Can someone explain why Delacroix is 12/1 for Ascot when he doesn’t have any other real target after Leopardstown? Aidan’s comments post-York and on Monday suggest he’s itching for a rematch — and make no mistake, he decides where these horses run.

I'd be shocked if he wasn't.Presume Soumi will be riding Henri Matisse, Whirl and Los Angeles on Sunday. I'll be against at least two of those.
