He's already provisionally booked for Richard Fahey's Rainbow Nebula in Friday's 2:20 at Ascot.I missed a race today! Sorry, not sorry, for not putting up the tip.
But there is one tomorrow - and fear not it’s our reliable, crack amateur Eireann Cagney onboard Thunderstorm Katie, in the 14:25 at Hamilton. We’re going in one point at 5/1, the night before.
Eireann has a healthy 1-1 ride-to-win ratio over the past 14 days.
" I was encouraged by the run at Carlisle a month ago as he'd been off the track for a period of time. So it would have done him a bit of good I'd have thought. I think he'll run well for Eireann, although typically for this season our chances haven't been helped by stall one. But there's nothing we can do and we'll hope for the best as I think he will appreciate the step up to seven furlongs. " ( Richard Fahey on Rainbow Nebula, quoted in his Sporting Life column today. His price is now 15/2 on Bet365. Sire Hello Youmzain won the 2019 Haydock Sprint Cup on officially soft ground ( slow by 2.29s ).The next qualifier is the 14:20 tomorrow. Five places, too.
Three qualifying jockeys, all with ew shouts. Our man Eireann rides Rainbow Nebula at 10/1; Henry Callan rides Shaladar at 14/1; and Mr JH Williamson rides Cancan In The Rain at 16/1.
Each of the horses have question marks about them, as their odds reflect. I wouldn’t be surprised, either, if Rainbow Nebula is withdrawn on account of the ground, if the forecast rain arrives.
I’ll sit this one out until the morning, but money is definitely going to be staked blindly.
Thank you, Jayhhawk! I noted the horse was a NR on soft ground at Ayr for his last race." I was encouraged by the run at Carlisle a month ago as he'd been off the track for a period of time. I read another of Richard Fahey's Sporting Life pieces from two weeks ago which mentioned that Rainbow Nebula was due to run on Ayr Gold Cup day, and then checked for the reason on the BHA website. It wasn't the ground, it was an abscess on a self-certificate.Thank you, Jayhhawk! I noted the horse was a NR on soft ground at Ayr for his last race.
Many thanks, Jayhawk.I read another of Richard Fahey's Sporting Life pieces from two weeks ago which mentioned that Rainbow Nebula was due to run on Ayr Gold Cup day, and then checked for the reason on the BHA website. It wasn't the ground, it was an abscess on a self-certificate.
Cheers, Ian - great pointers, as usual.Rainbow Nebula was a self cert at Ayr - no mention of the ground being unsuitable.
The sire is 20% (four winners from 20 runners) on ground officially described as Soft.
James King (Northcliff - who might not want it too Soft tbh) is a leading Point-to-Point and Hunters' Chase jockey and, even in a Flat race, I'd rate him a cut above most of these riders.
Only 4 rides on the flat since 2023.no winners.I think Cian Murphy (I Still Have Faith) rode five winners in Points last season and he'd be a young jockey to keep an eye on in this sphere too.
Well done Len.nice one.Excellent return, chaps. Eireann is a total star, and a 16/1 place.

Oh. We’ll have to do some proper thinking, then. The bloke is a machine - always wins or places.Monday's 4:55 at Wolverhampton is the next scheduled amateur jockeys' race and unfortunately Mr Cagney is not yet one of the intended riders.
Quality, Len.Excellent return, chaps. Eireann is a total star, and a 16/1 place.
