The 2025 Breeders' Cup

I knew with that turn of foot if he got daylight, nothing was going to touch him. He's such a lovely horse and I have been a fan since before he won the Guineas.

Notable Speech won that race, and he's nigh unbeatable over a sharp Im.
Soumillon had the race won and Notable Speech stuck behind, then ran himself into trouble again.

As good as the winner is and was, that ride was as bad in equal measures

Ive just watched it again twice

Can't see what Soumillon did wrong he had clear daylight coming into the straight and was close enough if good enough, the horse just didn't quicken

I bet the winner (but wanted the runner up for even more) and my unbiased opinion is that Notable Speech was simply different gear to the lot of them.

On quick ground at a mile, he's just about the best there is at the moment.

Ill watch it back now, but on first watch he gave up the winning track position running himself into trouble at the same time.

I feel he’d enough speed to see it out, the winner would have had to come out 3 wide to get room.

My reading of it anyway on first watch

Damn that was close! Was on the Bull ew though and also Tumba ew although he was just edged too... so no payout

Winner was in different league but Buick does owe Soumi a drink.

Cheers Soumi!

I've had an OK time - not made a huge amount but I only bet for fun really anyway.
Winners in Gstaad, Notable Speech, Shisospicy and Bentornato
Placed Khaadem, |Citizen Bull, Diamond Rain, Imaginationthelady and Stark Contrast
I'm happy enough.

Anyway guys, thanks for keeping me company! It's been fun, y'all!

Breeders' Cup 25 draws to a close and once again the Talking Horses Massive have done a major event justice with yet another scintillating thread - Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse says: "You've All Done Very Well!":

Where's pawras with his stats on Ebor winners in the Breeders' Cup Turf when you need him?

Well previously only 1 horse has ran in the Ebor race itself and gone on to the following Breeders Cup Turf, that was in 2010, it hadn't won the Ebor but it did win the Breeders Cup Turf. Ethical Diamond now makes that two attempts and two wins.

As for other races in the Ebor meeting, there's been 8 prev winners from the Ebor meeting head to the following Breeders Cup Turf and 1 has won..........

I've not won on the meeting either, Luke, and I've bet some runners up and thirds at big prices win only, but I did manage some damage limitation towards the end tonight.
Gezora ensured a profitable weekend for me which was a minor miracle after I place laid Gstaad ( he had a massive class advantage which negated the awful draw, bad bad bet) and I had a painful big bet on The Changing Man at Ascot. Very relieved.

On the whole it was a most enjoyable meeting. I haven't done the videowatch before and I actually found it useful so I was able to do a more comprehensive analysis. I did miss Formidable Man who I had put down as looking well though.

It's never an exact science though and I am pleased when I get any winners. Notable Speech I was really, really pleased about. He has such an engine and it's great to see him showcase that on a world stage. And apparently he stays in training which is excellent news.

Other things I noted -

Dettori. I wrongly assumed that he would have the whole Retirement shebang all over again but over there. Instead he went out with a complete whimper. No real support from the US trainers even if I do admit they are loyal to their own but he's been over there riding winners so I thought he would be riding in every race and on fancied horses - got that very wrong!

Ryan Moore is much missed. There is no getting away from the fact that he is superior. The Frog just didn't excel in the same way. I think he did Minnie zero favours chasing the fast pace and she was a spent force - not surprising though having had a long hard season but even so.

There were some cracking finishes and Willie Mullins will have us all scratching our heads for a long time over that win. A handicapper taking such a competitive Group 1 having never contested one before plus he got stuffed in the County Hurdle. One for the racing themed pub quizzes in years to come?
