The 2025 Silver Cup Handicap Chase

Does anyone follow Pauling's early declarations?

I see Pic Roc is shorter (and blue) than Henry's Friend yet Ben Jones's name is next to the latter. Does Pauling fvck about with these early arrangements? If not, then Henry's Friend should not be the longer price.

Henry's (next) target has always been this race since the Ascot win early Nov, so not overly surprising BJ is down to ride. Assuming PR runs, it's likely to be Kielan Woods riding. KW rode for the early Nov Huntingdon win.

I'd suggest it probably (let's say possibly) isn't worth reading anything into the arrangements - more likely BP doesn't know (in light of PR's Newbury run) which one will come home in front.

So why run him last weekend at a course he plainly doesn't act on. Very poor programming and for me rules him out of contention for this race.
Yep, seemed an odd decision. And likely that's the reason now for the riding arrangements DO posted above.

Maybe there's something going on we don't know about. Or more likely, something we don't know about the run last week.

The chances are it wasn't there to win last week anyway but they reported it ran flat so maybe they weren't expecting such a bad run and maybe it has put Jones off it.

The Hennessy was a serious race and PR did very well after losing a lot of ground at the start. I'm not sure 21 days would be a long enough recovery period so I'm a wee bit wary of backing it here.

Maybe the simple answer to the puzzle is Victtorino?

If Pic Roc turns up - and Ben Jones can see his way clear to actually jumping off with the rest of the field this time - they won't see which way the moral Coral Gold Cup runner up went from two out.

But I can wait, because we're not at home to Mr Ante Post Bet On A NR. #justbackfuckingrunners
Can't wait for this contest tbf.

Could be they just wanted to prove/confirm that Henry's just doesn't like Cheltenham, and once that was confirmed, BJ just let him coast. In which case, likely no harm done for this upcoming effort.

No good runs at Cheltenham in 3 visits now. Maybe they were wanting to know whether it would be worth targeting anything in March.

And now they know.

With all the major contenders standing their ground this looks a hot race on paper doesn't it.

I would genuinely be pleased if my fella could place in the first four. He'll need to come right back to his best and then improve another 7-10lb to win it though.

I'm hopeful but not confident. I fear the big guns.
