Grand National

Screenshots of roughly the top 60 - likely to include the final field - on raw RPRs. No ORs listed for the Irish horses but it wouldn't be too hard to work out what they'll be rated for this so you can pretty close as dammit frame the handicap as things stand.

Good evening everyone,

I am back to annoy you all with my Grand National 2026 system selections. I am busy with Cheltenham at this time, but hopefully after the festival is completed. I will run my Grand National Tipster Competition again, which Ian won so impressively last year.

I have gone through today's 78 entries and these qualify so far, I was quite surprised when there were only 13 of them. The BobbyJo winner may need to be added plus Ryanair and Gold Cup participants. I am tempted to back a couple of these now 4 places, but will probably wait until 5 places, NRNB arrives.

Banbridge 50/1
Champ Kiely 66/1
Firefox 50/1
Gerri Colombe 100/1
Grangeclare West 25/1
Grey Dawning 50/1
Haiti Cooleurs 16/1
Handstands 66/1
I Am Maximus 12/1
Lecky Watson 50/1
Monty's Star 25/1
Stellar Story 50/1
Western Fold 50/1

Which race Cheltenham Mares Chase or Ryanair, will she win ?

The oringinal plan was Kelso so i was hoping they'd have stuck to that she'd have no chance in a Ryan air. But a run in the Mares would be perfect whether she wins that or not is immaterial. Its the same sort of gap if not a bit better than between the paddy power and the Coral gold cup which worked out perfectly for her. Her mark is blinding should put her in off low 10 stone something. She was so fluent around Newbury it was beyond belief. I backed her as big as i go antepost really straight after at 33's also have her in a decent trixie at that price which kicks off with All in you at 10's the weekend. Dosage profile deep in stamina. You need a bit of luck of course but shes amongst the best bets I've ever seen in a National.

Forget where that last Mares chase she won was i was a bit peeved that everyone raved about her jumping that day as its more or less inviting a sods law fall. The race was a nothing race and beat nothing but Harry Skelton was creaming his pants after he'd sat on her he was on the verge of saying she was Gold cup horse but didnt want to sound daft as she's rated 147.

Funny thing is i thought she was lay of the season in the Paddy Power when she dotted up. I took it on the chin had a decent bet on her in the Coral gold cup and now I'm convinced if preperation goes smooth and she gets there on the day ready to run her race, that will be enough. I dont care if Willie sends 10 on magic carrots. They wont beat her.

Hi Danny, thank you for replying, I like your confidence. I just have one concern, is she definitely going to get in the race ?

Love it!

A mark of 145 got in last year so yeah 147 should fly in.
I have just put my house on her, well not quite 😅. Thanks Danny 👍

P.S A word of warning if she should take part in either the Mares Chase or the Ryanair she would qualify under my system 😲

If I am going to back a horse for the National, I can't sit by and watch it win before that. So I have also backed Panic Attack to win the Mares Chase at 13/2 and just in case 39/1 (BFex) to win the Ryanair 😆.

Friday the 13th, that's the one (Mares Chase) :D

The stats system went out the window when they made significant changes to the Grand National. For last two years we have had horses in top three carrying above 11stone
Noble Yeats prior did the age stat in for a 7 year old

VF x

Very good point VF x . I hope my good friend Pawras is taking notes.

A couple of Novicey errors there Alex.

Firstly you've followed in somebody who doesn't know his arse from his elbow these days.

Secondly if you take a big double figure price about a horse which confirmed main target is said race, and is a long distance handicap it should not automatically follow that you should be taking wild ante-post swipes over a trip that is probably short of ideal, against horses in either race that are rated vastly superior and accepting a lesser price for a more difficult task.

And thirdly re-read the first reason.

What is Anthony Honeyball doing entering Leave Of Absense in the Denman Chase on Saturday?

He's an improving novice who likes good ground.

He's also entered up in the 3M handicap at Kempton on Feb 21st.

Hes got to keep him in handicaps for now, surely?

I've been looking at JPs novice chaser Oscars Brother (@ 33/1) but has only run over fences four times and entries for Grand National need a minimum of six. Looks like they could be serious about entering him because he is entered on Sunday at Navan 15:50 and then if he does ok in Brown Advisory Novice Chase.
Maybe he is a little too inexperienced for the GN but I might be tempted to have an e/way bet if he does well at Navan.

I did a similar thing last year with Jango Baie, I can't remember the exact Bfex price I got but it was over 400/1, and I have not been able to break the habit ever since 😀

Thanks Oxford, I had not thought of that possibility 👍

Just your regular reminder that Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse has not only walked every blade of grass of the hallowed Aintree Grand National Course turf in his time, but has driven up and down the Melling Road and clean across to the other side and back, not once, but twice.

Nice to see you posting again Oxford.

Impaire Et Passe worked after racing at Punchestown today. The fact he’s starting so late. He is by fair the most interesting horse in that market.
