I’ve been working on something I think a lot of fans here might enjoy — a behind-the-scenes video series with The Racing Post that digs into untold stories around horse racing — from training quirks to run-up rituals, industry insights, and the people that make it all happen.

Why I’m sharing this here:

• I want to help bring new audiences to racing by telling stories not often seen.
• I think this community has some fantastic insights, opinions, and experiences — and I want to hear them.

Do you know what I like about this? The focus is completely on the subject at hand. I like this way of presenting a story, rather than a presenter sucking up all the oxygen.

Now you metion it I know someone with a hat full of tales to tell, mostly pre 1985 but if you want to get the nitty gritty out of him bring a pair of pliers, a blow torch and still be prepared for a long wait.

It was only last November, ffs, and if they did they were simply stating the bleedin' obvious!

I think Ian gets at least 12 months grace with that one as I think it's probably one of the best bets ever to be put on a forum. It would actually be interesting to hear off people who've ever seen a better punt put up on a forum before a race. Whether it be a multiple or trifecta. I doubt there would be many.

That said as I suggested torture as a method to get him to divulge his secrets I thought of the old S.A.S trick for resistance simply to pick a spot on the wall, and then repeat their name, rank and number over and over again.

What a great idea. And, Slim said, benefits greatly from not having a presenter.

Idea-wise - Yogi Breisner: Feed - you used to have a man in the yard who specilaised in mixing feed; don't know if that still happens. Travel: hours in a horsebox on UK roads must be an ordeal for staff let alone the horse inside. What sort of prep goes into travelling a horse? What emergency measures are there to cover accidents, long holdups, travelling in a heatwave etc.

My own long term interest has been the character and demeanour of racehorses, especially on track. Horses can respond out of the blue to changes in their lives - see my thread on Anglers Crag

As already mentioned before the side-tracking - a very interesting idea. Haven't had time to watch it yet but I will do and see if I can suggest anything. I worked in the industry for a long while in many different roles so I think this is great.

Love it - and this is the kind of work that nobody really knows how it happens, we all know there’s someone out there maintaining everything but the gallops fairies are rarely seen!!

I’m not sure many of the Lambourn stories around are repeatable…
