There is only one UK novice chaser of interest to me currently - Caldwell Potter

Down Memory Lane was a nice + to his backers this weekend

Of the Irish, Slade Steel disappointed at the weekend

Plans for Ballyburn seem up in the air but I'd still guess he goes chasing

I'm not a Skelton guy by any means but I was very impressed by L'eau du Sud on Saturday. Yes, he beat frig all but the manner impressed me and I took 16s for the Arkle afterwards. Yes Ballyburn probably and Firefox will be tough opponents but he shouldn't be bigger in that market than Sir Gino and Impire et overrated.

Which festival race for SG?

Should be Champion Hurdle but his owner lemming like sends all his horses seemingly to either Mullins or Henderson so no chance of a chase with Con Hill, can't have that.

L’Eau du Sud will need to be at least a stone better to win an average Arkle I reckon and then 6lb more to have won either of the last two. Not impossible as Gaelic Warrior probably improved by about that much from November to March but a tall order nonetheless

Whats the general consensus with Novices having two festival championship races?

I think the Arkle was starting to suffer with small fields and both races should now fill out with clashes people want to see

Very impressed with Down Memory Lane and I flagged him up in the To Follow thread as well as picking him as my dark horse for the comp. It was a nice race too and he jumped really well. He was well thought of last year before having a small issue and I think as a big horse, its probably helped.

Definitely the correct decision-all they need to do now is bin the novice handicap and revert to 3 days.

Nice horse jinny

Next day out will see how good he is as a grade 1 is likely

PFN takes the rugs off his very expensive Nov chasers this weekend

Slade Steel pencilled in for a beginners chase in Naas mid December
Slade Steel was a big disappointment on his First run over fences -not what you expect from a horse trained in Knockeen.

I'm looking forward to seeing Johnnywho today.

He's been well supported in the betting to near favouritism, since final declarations, and while you wouldn't associate Jonjo with top class novice chasers, maybe he's got one here.

I wonder who's backed him?

Interesting little race this. It’s one to watch for me but if forced to have a bet I’d probably side with The Jukebox Man at the prices

Superb by The Jukebox Man there. Love Ben Jones as a jockey (he’s a cracking dancer too!) and the horse really delivered for him.

I’d just about convinced myself to back him despite saying the above but had to take a work call which went on a bit longer than expected (despite my best efforts to wrap it up) so I ended up missing out 🤬
