Il est francais

10/1freely available -closer to 20s on betfair. Can they get him right in 5 weeks -I don't know but anything over 16 on betfair is worth a nibble.
A month is a long time in racing.

Just look at City Of Troy from the Guineas to Derby. It can be done.

They would have to rough him off them it takes about 4 weeks to prepare him and that's a big ask when it comes to a king george...need to be crazy to back him now.

You are prepared to take a chance on Constitution Hill at much shorter odds. All about risk/reward.

Risk? He's reportedly in great form while the French horse's chances of running are slim to zero...I trust Nicky to have him spot on for the FF then it's onward and upwards

How can you be so confident the French horse's chances of running are slim to zero -in your opinion what are the odds he makes it to Kempton.
Likewise what are the odds Constitution Hill makes it to Cheltenham.

What would be the usual time that they would wait after a "pulmonary haemorrhage" before running again?
Haven't a clue but jockey pulled him up a long way out yesterday and didn't abuse him. As a lowly paid accounts assistant in London in 1994 I had backed Barton Bank to do the Charlie Hall/Gold Cup double at 250/1-a few weeks before the Gold Cup he broke a blood vessel at home and was declared a non runner for Cheltenham. He raced on for years after that -I think they just changed his routine.
I believe the French have excellent under the counter medication to solve the problem.

I remember Barton bank - did he not fall at the last In the king George one year?

Takes about 6 weeks then you can only cross your fingers and hope it doesn't happen again. The treatment more often works than not but the risk remains and you could run him twice and nothing then bang it raises it's ugly horse again.

You will remember Nicky Henderson being banned for running the Queens Moonlit Path while being treated and getting banned. She ran twice after that with no problem then was pulled up at Aintree when stopping like shot by Felix De Giles and never ran again

Geez he was 5/1 a moment ago was Nicky saying something negative...........anyone have a link I am basically cut of from news articles here at the moment?

On the forecast ground I don't see how he doesn't start fav.

I can't believe Spillane's Tower is a likely runner. Given what the trainer has said about the horse needing cut in the ground.

I went through the card earlier and only IEF, BMG and Banbridge have shown their best form on goodish ground

If it is bouncy I think Grey Dawnings participation could be doubt as well

Here is the gospel on the King George VI Chase according to Saint Ian Of Davies....

3m is 3m, don't listen to all that easy 3m at Kempton nonsense - the only 2m-2m4f chaser to last home and win it in my adult lifetime was Edredon Bleu.

Those collared at the business end because they just didn't quite get 3m include Vautour and Analogs Daughter to name but two.

Grey Dawning had as hard a race at Haydock Park as you'll ever see - it was like the 15th and final round in "The Thriller In Manila" up the run in.

But Skelton knows he can't win a King George if he doesn't have a runner in it, so he's having a crack anyway.

The last two high-profile French runners in big British Handicap Chases got the worst Gallic rides on these shores since Freddie Head came so wide round Tattenham Corner he ended up on Epsom High Street on Green Dancer in the 1970s.

The General could do with a change of jockey, but Felix De Giles at least has the redeeming quality of knowing his way round a British Chase circuit.

And James Reveley is a positive asset in the saddle.

Il Est Francais isn't the most consistent, burst a blood vessel last time out, that wasn't his only shocker this year and don't take his time last year literally in comparison with the King George as they walked round in the latter and only really raced the final mile.

But for all that, Il Est Francais still smashed standard by 2.7 seconds, it will be similar ground this year and, if he's on a going day, trust me, this sub-standard field won't see which way he went.

Best tongue-in-cheek preview you'll read this Christmas!^

I'm with you guys and many others too, on his best form, Il Est Francais should have a really good chance.

Don't get me wrong, Spillane's looks a real good prospect, but I'd consider him much more on soft ground.

As a punter, somewhere along the line, (even for someone like me, who generally wants to challenge everything, including betting markets), you have to go on the wisdom or expertise available.

I can understand connections want to seize their chance for Boxing Day glory, and I'm in no way having a dig at Jimmy Mangan for sending him over, but if what he's been saying all along is true, the ground will simply not have enough juice in it.

I have 12 pounds on Constitution Hill for the Christmas Hurdle Luke. As for the kings Ransome I have on him it's for the Champion Hurdle. If he runs her close or beats her after the lay off I will be happy.

Il Est Francsis could be a sitting duck in what is a much better race than he ran in last year. Granted he did win it easy. Still my worry if I back him is something takes him on from the start and upsets his Rhythm...
