Had a look at this yesterday. I don't feel that there is a potential stand out performer, so it's very intriguing that master trainer Fabre, has thrown in Sinileo, who only made his racecourse debut two weeks ago.
There are a couple who I think are value. Puppet Master looks steadily progressive, has a good draw, winning form on soft ground. Ought to have won the Derby trial at Epsom. 20/1 looks fair.
From more unfashionable connections. Al Aali, stayed on strongly in one of the trials last time out + the 50s ( bet 365 ) looks big to me.

Time to tell you all what will happen tomorrow.

The Poule D'Essai Des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas) form is key, especially as the Prix Du Jockey Club is 1m2f110yds, not 1m4f, nowadays.

Luther will pass the post first, but will be disqualified for repeatedly being British trained and Kieran Shoemark-ridden inside the final furlong.

The race will be awarded to Ridari, even though he appeared to finish eighth (bad camera angle will be the explanation) with Luther demoted to last place just to make sure connections get the message.

Camille Pissarro, having finished second, will be remain runner up because Ireland are in the EU and after the weigh in a Scottish gentleman will be heard chanting: "You should have gone to Epsom!" at Charlie Fellowes, thus interrupting his heart-felt interview with RancidTV about what a win would have done for his struggling career after his socio-economically humble start in life.

All my feeble jokes aside, you should get a decent run, Maurice - both pedigree and the way he ran at Longchamp suggests the trip today may bring improvement.

Trouble is, the same case could be made for Camille Pissarro, Ridari and Detain.

I don't have a strong view on the race - they'd be my four against the field in what looks an open contest.

It would be a giggle if Luther beat Detain in a photo finish - don't blame Gosden for getting shot of Shoemark, tbh, but can't stand the bloke, or the way he throws jockeys under buses in public, so I'd love to see Shoemark put one over on him.

I don't have a strong view on the race myself, to be honest.

I just felt some sickness insurance on Luther was in order. I'm setting my expectations bar low and the bookies are offering four places. If he can't manage a top four finish in this race then Epsom would have been pointless.

Is it wrong that I spent more time on a fillies handicap at Chelmsford than I did on this race?
Absolutely not and it gives me the excuse for a lazy Sunday morning story.

It's circa 1990, SIS only relatively recently launched, it's Royal Ascot week, I'm working at The Sporting Life and the staff are packed into Editor Monty Court's office to watch a non-BBC televised race on the SIS feed he has in there.

Jump gaff tracks specialist Mick Connaughton asks if they can flip onto Taunton for the selling hurdle that precedes it.

"What do you want to watch this rubbish for?" boomed the IMO perennially-pompous Court.

"What's better, backing a 3/1 winner at Taunton or a 2/1 winner at Royal Ascot?" replied Mick.

"Why, a 2/1 winner at Ascot!" Court unbelievably (or maybe not so unbelievably) bellowed.

"I give up - switch it back to Ascot," sighed Mick.

True story.

I think I've won enough to fund a bag of crisps - an open race it indeed proved to be to my eye.

I'm not sure the winner has had to do more than run to his OR of 114 to win that as he did.

7.25l has covered 17 of the 18 of them and they went a fair enough pace.

That's the dream for coolmore. Wb as likely as any to be able to produce top class dirt horses. They have justify of course so maybe between the two they could crack it. Easier said than done.

Indeed. The time for the race was two seconds below standard, so what to make of the bunch finish?
