What are you backing Today? Part 2

Surely Stormy Impact is much too big a price at 8/1 here.

Fantastic Ew value. I suppose the question will be whether she'll handle to ground but, if she does, she's well worth a go on form. As I say, good ew price but, you wait, the old bookies will make sure we get a Nr, diminishing the field to 6 runners and two places.

Cynical? Me?

5:25 Gowran Park - 12 furlong handicap on heavy ground.

Paradise Lost (12/1) - Charles O'Brien. 2nd of 13 on soft in this race last year, and 5th of 16 on heavy the year before. Trainer could do with a winner ( 41 runs and 205 days since the last one ).

Well, a decent 2nd and no harm done.

Wrong about the NR, too (y)

FFS.
Prydwen another second placer for myself today.
Prydwen runs today in the 7.40 at Kempton.

He ran a fantastic race last time when just getting caught close home by a proper good handicapper. His all weather record is quite scintillating, running in at nearly a 50 percent win strike rate. Can he defy top weight? I think so. He's not getting any younger, and will turn 8 years of age soon, so this is a prize worth winning. I don't think they'll be trying to get his handicap mark down, let's put it like that. 5/1 or thereabouts seems fair enough.
Edit, avaiable at 8/1 this morning, I hope he hasn't lost a leg. 👍🤣

8.10 My side bet or next best today is Angel Of Rain who I like coming back from a short break and dropped to class five level. At the odds I'll take a chance on her.

A teaser. Pic Roc is the only one with chase experience running five times and showing up well at Class3. The rest are decent hurdlers with Wendigo the cream of the crop, but can he jump - Jamie Snowden thinks so. Can you risk it at odds-on though, or do you go with experience? And not forgetting that the flying Olly Murphy has Wade Out in it as well.

A shame Wendigo couldn’t quite land the odds. Gavin Sheehan said post-race (I have a share via Racing Club so get to see immediate post-race comments) that he should have won and that’s the way it looked to me with Sean Bowen scrubbing away on the winner from 4 out I thought Gav had written him off and only realised he was a threat when he’d already eased off and it was too late to get Wendigo going again

Agree. Sean Bowen never gives up, does he. Mind you, the market wasn’t that happy with Wendigo who had drifted from 8/13. Typical, isn’t it, that the only one to make a serious jumping mistake was the one with all the chase experience.
