The 2025 King George VI Chase

I often cite Vautour as an example of why you need to be fully effective at 3m to win a King George.

Had Vautour done anything at 3m prior to getting touched off at Kempton?

Fact To File has won a 3m Grade 1 round stiffer Cheltenham and run one of the best Cheltenham Gold Cup winners in recent times to less than ten lengths over 3m round Leopardstown twice.

Much though it pains both of us to ever agree, I think Slim has it spot on - if Fact To File gets done today it won't be because he can't get 3m on a Park Course.
I still remain to be convinced, tbh. He beat Monty’s Star over 3m at Cheltenham, who has only won once over fences, and finished 20 lengths behind the winner in last season’s GC.

I know Kempton is supposed to be easier, but many jockeys have said over the years that the King George is a proper test of stamina, because horses will go that bit quicker on a flatter course; and especially on the G-S ground.

Gaelic Warrior-Banbridge-Il est Fracais for the combi forecast, it is, then (for fear of crashing your own trifecta). 😀

I'm not sure what the thought process was there from Mark Walsh there. He didn't hold it up, he didn't get a position, an absolute nothing ride.

First four all ran great - none of them deserved to lose.

I'd still be on Gaelic for the GC after that though. He's tough to have come back from that last race and still perform.

It didn't disappoint did it.what a race..
Well done to The Jukebox man and his backers .
But gutted Banbridge couldn't hold on.

It happens some horse every year there; whatever the reason.
May be after effects of Punchestown race.

He covered every part of the width of the course. In a slowly run race where you don't want to be is on the outside for a whole circuit.

Paul just lost balance for a stride or two, whatever happened him.
Banbridge ; Irish Panther DOH!!!!
Just seen that - Paul dropped his reins and there was a moment when he lost his rhythm - could have made the difference. Thought the horse was just pricking his ears a bit.

But pleased for the Bens - they are a great team together and jockey Ben is such a strong guy in a finish.

I took 20/1 Banbridge about a minute before the off so it was a reasonably calm watch from the final fence.

Watching the replay from the inside rail camera. A bit of me thinks the winner had more in the tank than it looked live.

I thought he lost his grip on his stick and lost balance in recovering it.
