As a recent new member, I can say ive never had a warmer welcome to a forum, plenty of engagement and none of it negative. I guess thats down to experience of being on many forums over the years and putting some effort into my first posts. Ask not what the forum can do for you, but what you can do for the forum.

To me, a forum is a place you go when you have something to say about a topic, not to learn the ropes. The forum might sell itself as noob friendly, but the status quo rarely is. So next time you come in, you come heavy or not at all.

I'm not a fan of so called clique's, and always believed members, new or old, should be judged on the content and merit of their posts. When I first posted online I felt there was a clique, but then I also now realise I was young and naive, and posting a lot of meaningless shite,, so I was asking for trouble. It was a two way thing, and it took two to tango.

Bearing in mind, not all newbies have been fantastic, and we've had dubious new members joining too, including members talking about bizarre conspiracy theories on other sections.

Not all regular members will treat newbies the same either, especially if they post material that is unclear or might be seen to have an agenda. That's only normal. It's each to their own on that score as far as I'm concerned.

It's an unwritten fact of forum life, that members who engage regularly with each other, form an understanding of each other, and that understanding will also be the same one that reaches out or engages with new members. We like it or lump it.

I hope we don't lose Danny over this.

For what it's worth, I was much more concerned about how Danny wrote about another well known forum member on the now defunct will win thread, namely DO, than I was about what he said to the original poster on here.

Let's all settle down anyway.

Ffs you lot can be a bunch of old women at times, personally i laughed my arse off at Danny's comment & viewed it pretty apt, even the mrs laughed at that.

I've grown to detest this folder.

It doesn't encourage newcomers to pitch straight into General Racing Topics, it's a hang out for self-appointed "meeters and greeters," who make snide little nameless digs about other forumites under the guise of welcoming people to the forum (but in reality make the place look like a bitchy cesspit) and it creates pointless discussions like this.

I don't take anything Slim writes personally, but that's me, Danny (if he reads this) can take it any way he likes (that's his prerogative) ditto others.

But if I feel enduring antipathy towards anyone, it's not towards Slim, but towards those I feel seem to have driven Danny away.

I've grown to think of Danny as one of the outstanding characters on this forum and, for me, Danny's absence is the forum's loss, not Danny's.

Agree 100%.
Miss his posts- period.

Had a long conversation with Danny yesterday. He's fine and busy at work - huge respect for what he does as it's not for the faint hearted looking at the videos he sent me! Think he just wanted a break and a reset and that's sometimes that's all that's needed. Even the forum itself needed a little downtime! :cheerleader:

The best course of action would be to delete this thread and this whole section of the forum. It's a bag of shite.
Oh really? This was a welcoming thread to a newbie
Has this section been deleted yet?
WTF?
No we don't. I think he's a c***.
Is this your attempt at humor? Seven day suspension - come back when you can act like a contributing member of this forum. At the moment you are acting like some privileged jerk-off.
