NEW HERE

As a recent new member, I can say ive never had a warmer welcome to a forum, plenty of engagement and none of it negative. I guess thats down to experience of being on many forums over the years and putting some effort into my first posts. Ask not what the forum can do for you, but what you can do for the forum.

To me, a forum is a place you go when you have something to say about a topic, not to learn the ropes. The forum might sell itself as noob friendly, but the status quo rarely is. So next time you come in, you come heavy or not at all.

I'm not a fan of so called clique's, and always believed members, new or old, should be judged on the content and merit of their posts. When I first posted online I felt there was a clique, but then I also now realise I was young and naive, and posting a lot of meaningless shite,, so I was asking for trouble. It was a two way thing, and it took two to tango.

Bearing in mind, not all newbies have been fantastic, and we've had dubious new members joining too, including members talking about bizarre conspiracy theories on other sections.

Not all regular members will treat newbies the same either, especially if they post material that is unclear or might be seen to have an agenda. That's only normal. It's each to their own on that score as far as I'm concerned.

It's an unwritten fact of forum life, that members who engage regularly with each other, form an understanding of each other, and that understanding will also be the same one that reaches out or engages with new members. We like it or lump it.

I hope we don't lose Danny over this.

For what it's worth, I was much more concerned about how Danny wrote about another well known forum member on the now defunct will win thread, namely DO, than I was about what he said to the original poster on here.

Let's all settle down anyway.
