    York - Day 2

Gearoid...you will see I changed the original post...Graham Gibbons was too easy and you are right ....he is a quality jockey....what about Paul Mulrennan instead who has ridden Hoof It in the past?

    York - Day 2

So when you see Paul Mulrennan instead of Kieran Fallon on a horse like Hoof It, you still go ahead and back it to the hilt?

    York - Day 2

Can anyone explain the O'Brien jockey strategy/logic? In terms of eliminating variables in order to decide which horse to bet on, it is plain frustrating.

Namibian and Midday for me. One because know it stays....the other because of course form.

King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2011

He is technically still an apprentice. Does this mean that a Fortune/ Fallon/ Hughes/ Peslier /Hanagan couldn't ride SNA just as well? If you look at the final furlong and half of the Coronation, SNA needed everything Ryan Moore threw at him to get home.

King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2011

The question I have, is how is JPOB, OBJECTIVELY the best jockey to ride SNA?

    Irish Flat Season 2011

Johnny doesn't look so bad now does he..... The more I think about it, the more I think Aidan might be the problem. Wonder how long they will tolerate him? Particularly if he doesn't deliver this year.

    Murtagh at Ballydoyle

Mildly intrigued at the riding arrangements at Dundalk tomorrow. Johnny M has 6 rides, 1 for the Aga, 2 for Wachman/Magnier and none for Aidan. Guess Aidan must be concentrating on trying to get Joseph over the finishing line in the apprentice title.

    Murtagh at Ballydoyle

His problem is his riding weight. The RP database reports that the lowest he has done all year is 8-10 which is high enough.

    Murtagh at Ballydoyle

Come on. Be fair. Is he really that bad? He can't be thereabouts in the Irish jockeys championship by being that average?

    Murtagh at Ballydoyle

Where does Fran go now? Don't think he has enough experience to get the Ballydoyle job, despite the link with JPMcM. Might he try his hand in the UK?

    Murtagh at Ballydoyle

They'll want a robot...someone who follows detailed orders. The internal candidates will be best in this area. The problem is, that they might be a bit weak on the communication skills required after the races have been won to talk to the press and "big up" the capabilities of the beast they...

    Murtagh at Ballydoyle

One other thing to consider....if APOB is becoming "awkward"/"more attentive to detail"/"prescriptive about riding instructions"/take your pick, it is going to do wonders for family relations (brother-in-law to brother-in-law) when Pat rides a bad one or doesn't quite follow instructions to the...
