    The Two Mile Chasers

Considering how badly he has run this year -albeit his AF recurred on his first run I am not quite sure why I fancy Captain Guinness sneaking in to the frame . Cheltenham record is excellent though . I think he was coming to win the Supreme when Asterion Forlobge took a number of horses out .

Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

Fingers crossed - whenever infection suddenly worsens like this I am always reminded of the brilliant filly Chriselliam dying over winter after her Fillies Mile and Breeders Cup romps . Hope Sir Gino is rapidly on the mend.

    Denman Chase

Am I right that they are taking all the headgear off Bravemansgame ? Tends to suggest they have accepted that he in decline rather than not trying.

    Game Spirit Chase

Nicky complaining about the programme book and that there are no alternative races apart from one at Bangor on 26.2 and the Pendil.

    Jockey News

Fingers crossed indeed - such a talented young jockey . Whenever I hear an air ambulance has been called I am taken back to that black day at Cheltenham when JT McNamara was injured.

Racing Post journalists and very silly articles

Indeed and the way the pages move so you accidentally click on a bookmaker site is quite “amazing” 😡

Racing Post journalists and very silly articles

Where do they get them from nowadays ? It seems that to justify their existence they have to post some silly article every week - normally under the heading " Another View " . Today's drivel from Maddy Playle takes the biscuit - suggesting that the Baring Bingham ( the Sun Alliance or RSA...

Road to the 2025 Champion Hurdle

As Comedy of Errors and Lanzarote , Bula and Persian War had won the CH before that - it was an extraodinary period for hurdlers and multiple Fighting Fifth and Bula Hurdle winner Bird's Nest didn't win one !

    Game Spirit Chase

If that lot turn up that's going to be rather more of a test than either of the renewals Sprinter Sacre and Altior won as novices - and Sir Gino for all the class of his jumping at Kempton has less experience over fences than either of the others. Surely better to take on L'Eau du Sud in the...

    Dublin Racing Festival, DRF

In fact, it was less of a Willie Mullins fest than usual - but it is a much better Festival I think when there is more competition from Elliot and de Bromhead.

    Dublin Racing Festival, DRF

The real unknown about the Festival is whether , as they usually are, H de B’s horses will be back in form . Monty’s Star faded into fifth but he was about the only horse that didn’t run like a complete drain or come to a sudden halt off the home turn . I am not saying he is likely to beat GDC...

    Dublin Racing Festival, DRF

Elliot skipping with his top horses and H de B seeming well out of form and sending a smaller team likely to be even more of a Mullins benefit this year.

    Royal Ascot Advice

Songsheet nominated me - how foolish of her . We got Krizon in for free pushing another attendee’s wheelchair as her carer. A long time ago as Membership won the Jersey Stakes

Horses you never forgave and couldn’t like

Winning Cheltenham Gold Cups - as DO and KS did doesn’t quite count as poor form ! Albeit DO was definitely a much better horse right handed . KS I am not sure about - he fell in the Champion Chase and 2010 GC . Ruby seems firm in his view he wasn’t right in the 2008 . He looked to blow up in...

Horses you never forgave and couldn’t like

I am not saying he isn’t . I am just a bit sceptical about him being the best since Kauto Star. I think GDC is very good but in a pretty weak era of staying chasers.

Horses you never forgave and couldn’t like

Galopin des Champs - a bruiser , turned over frequently right handed in a very weak era - does little for me.

Horses you never forgave and couldn’t like

I went to see Sea the Stars at York when he picked up Mastercraftsman . Jimmy Fortune said STS was toying with Rip Van Winkle in the Eclipse. His surge to take the lead from a pocket in the Arc was amazing . Watching STS go round the paddock at York was jaw dropping . He is definitely the best...

Road to the 2025 Champion Hurdle

I suspect the only chance of Anzadam turning up is if State Man flops badly on Sunday.
