Faster pace yesterday, so Zanthos was allowed to get on with it and won nicely. Touleen made her challenge which got nowhere so she was “looked after” from then on. I thought the stewards might have taken an interest, but no. Unfortunately, there’s two notebooks in the 1:50 Newmarket. It should...

2:25 Newmarket: Zanthos went in the notebook after an impressive win in a fast run Class 2 here in August - 9/8 she looked impressive and the time was good, but it’s difficult to know what she beat. Learn more next time - but she then got thumped easily by Touleen at Leicester who re-opposes...

Alarming was no better than steady in the market, but finished up joint favourite so I did have a little. She ran ok in fourth and I’ll leave her in for an easier engagement, even over a bit longer, maybe. The other two were weak in the market and no go.

Point Blank: The Bettor’s Utility Curve

Nice article. Sensible logic. Unfortunately, my mind doesn’t do sensible logic, it won’t tell my knocking knees my ten quid bet is just the normal one of a few years ago adjusted for inflation. It just says “but it’s ten quid, man, you’re in over your head”.

Been a bit naughty and have let my eyes stray to the jumps earlier than I should. Primoz lost a few days ago, but Henderson’s Ile De Jersey compensated yesterday. 3:35 Goodwood: High Stock had come a neck second in a Listed race at Chester and was then tried in a Group 3 at Ascot where he came...

The Official Constitution Hill Thread 2025/26

Close, but not as dominant and not quite as slick over the hurdles. It’s that risky flicking over the hurdles that has undone CH and that’s the bit we probably won’t see again.

The Official Constitution Hill Thread 2025/26

They may often go ott, but unlike the flat where the top horse are like shooting stars, flashing brilliant for a short time before disappearing, the jumpers stay with us year after year. It’s like the difference between a fleeting affair and a marriage. That’s why I love jump racing (and I’m...

In his pomp he’s still the best hurdler I’ve ever seen and if anyone can bring him back it’s Hendo. I live in hope.

Really good win by Words Of Truth and a nice price, too. He’s a good un. Market said nothing and no excuses for Alfareqa, although I suppose he might benefit from the run. Census drifted from overnight and can come out of the book now.

Be serious, Ian, who could chance competing with Slim. I do value my lower regions, you know. Anyway I am surprised to see him on here since he seriously thinks the jumps are shit, so Slim Get off my f$%^ing thread

For those looking forward to the main event, here’s a little something to get you tingling in anticipation. An extract from a piece on Bailey’s Blog by Peter Kerr who is syndicate manager at Kim Bailey’s. ….. Who can remember the rivalry between the likes of Kauto Star and Denman? Both trained...

    My notebook runners

Saturday 20th September It’s getting towards the fag end of the season when odd results abound as horses jump out of the woodwork to win their winter corn. Extra care required and mostly half stakes. 1:35 Newmarket: Alfareqa - after her notebook entry in April - 26/4 Won easily despite running...

Weapons of Mass Destruction – Lucky 15s v Yankees

I have enough trouble finding one winner in a day, let alone four. So don’t do either. There’s no disputing your case for L15, anyway.

One man’s meat is another man’s gravy and all that. Just trying point out that people engage for different reasons, have different objectives and different needs.
