The 2025 Should Be Odds-On Thread

Overrated? Rebels Romance is not at the level to be winning the top European races like the Arc, Irish Champions Stakes, Juddmonte etc but he is a Gr1 horse all the same. An A minus rather than a straight A or A plus, which is why he’s been globetrotting. But tomorrow’s race is a Gr2 race...

The 2025 Should Be Odds-On Thread

Rebels Romance is 5/2 for tomorrow's Hardwicke Stakes. A been everywhere done everything horse, he's at least five pounds clear of everything else on official ratings and those closest to him in the betting have been in indifferent form of late. Their connections will be hoping to find various...

Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

Life was never dull when Paul Carberry and Harchibald were around. My favourite moment in their respective careers was the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton when they overhauled Rooster Booster after allowing him a 25 length lead down the back straight. According to the RP the lead was still 20...

    Ubedizzy

Newspaper readership used to be very high in Ireland, especially on Sundays, when big stalls were set up outside the churches to catch the crowds coming out of Mass. Like many another, my father used to get a spread of Sunday papers - Sunday Independent, Sunday Press, Sunday Times and Observer...

    The 2025 Derby

There’s nothing new about thin crowds at the Curragh, even before the rebuild. Any ordinary racegoer, as opposed to the inner circle housed in boxes upstairs, could have told them that the Curragh was a very uncomfortable place to be in bad weather, even in mid-summer. The stands face into the...

    The 2025 Derby

Without Coolmore to support it the Derby would already be a 10f race by now. Maybe the Curragh version should drop in distance instead. It would give Epsom winners an easier opportunity to win a Group 1 at 10f than in an all aged race. And maybe the French horses might start turning up again.

    Jockey News

It depends what he makes of it. If it merely means a few guest appearances in other countries from time to time then you’re right. But potentially it’s very big if he becomes the man on board all their big contenders in France and the UK. Juddmonte haven’t had anyone in such a role before.
