    What are you watching

Perfect pub walks with Alexander Armstrong Ch4. Imo this is as good as Gone Fishing.Blokes talking about their feelings. What’s not to like. Only two in the series thus far, James May and Chris Packham but both have been quite moving.

    Car stuff again..

He’s going to get it done anyway as we have to travel up and down the M1 a few times each year. I did get some good advice on here about my car a while back. It’s just that these MOT’s that now tell you what is going to go wrong with your car in the future is a bit like seeing your doctor for a...

    Car stuff again..

Mikes car MOT says the disc pads are 60% worn and need looking at in 4 months time. Also says the front tyres are worn on the edges and need realigning. Again recheck in 4 months time. Is it worth just getting it done now? Life was much simpler when it was just pass or fail!

    The 2025 Belmont Stakes

They did say she’d never raced there before so maybe she just didn’t like the place.

The 2025 Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe Weekend Meeting Thread

Thank goodness Arrow Eagle didn’t come 4th. He was the first horse I backed ages ago and I wondered about backing him when it was first four and his price had gone right out. He ran a stormer from a bad draw. Someone must have tipped it either on here or elsewhere a long time ago (7 August).

    Trainers In Form

Years ago I noticed that Fergal O’Brien was winning everything, especially when Timmy Murphy was riding them. One Saturday I wanted to do an ew accumulator on them but didn’t know how to do it. All but one of them won or placed, the last being a 40/1 winner. It still pains me thinking about it...

    The 2025 Belmont Stakes

I’m travelling back from Northumberland and having to go straight to my sons to babysit so I’ll probably crash out on his sofa quite early!

Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse's Unofficial Blog

Pre iPhones and stuff I bought a tiny mobile tv that I could watch racing on. I think it ran off a car battery or something like that. Don’t remember it ever working though. Couldn’t even catch up on races on utube back then as they couldn’t be shown on it. I was always trying to find a pub that...

    PPE 'contracts'

I said my ambition was to be a little old lady living in a cottage with lots of cats and dogs. Or a window dresser…( I’ve got a carton of it back home that someone did for me over fifty years ago…when I get home I’ll see if I can post it). I ended up as a filing clerk…

Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

When I saw it I had to double check if it was old news for some reason ( possibly because I’m locked out of Facebook so haven’t seen anything from his fan club page for a while). Either that or I felt he was a horse that would live forever. One of the best named horses ever. It did say ‘ he went...

    What are you watching

I tried to give 1923 another go recently but still couldn’t watch it. But 1883 is excellent and makes me want to watch Yellowstone properly ( I only saw the first series when it was on terrestrial tv) now I understand the background to it.

Or football managers who don’t achieve ( after about three games) get a huge pay off and walk straight into another job.

    PPE 'contracts'

I’m afraid that, when it comes to politics people have very short memories. Except for some things that stick ( imo unfairly) eg the white van man comment and the LibDems with tuition fees. There’s a thread in another forum I frequent looking back at Boris Johnson with affection

    The 2025 Belmont Stakes

Thanks Ian! Is he another horse with a grey tail? Or was it just dirt?
