    The 2025 Longshot Thread

I like charity shops. 🤣 I hear Cesca Cumani gets all her gear from them. If it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me.

Donny 3:00 Chorus - The grandsire is Pivotal and therefore I'm thinking she's bred to appreciate soft ground conditions? Anyone know what the progeny of her sire Kingman prefer? Ha'way, tell one what he wants to hear! :)

    The Cork "Scabs" Thread

I'm blonde, but I get this reddish beard if I let it grow long enough, an. I think this is where Gerry's DNA really shines through. Just saying.

    The Cork "Scabs" Thread

Whenever someone roughs or rubs me up the wrong way over here, I often think I'm being discriminated for being half genetically Irish and a wee bit gingerish to boot. It helps get me through the hard times. Not so much blaming it all on my roots, just looking for some sort of reason for it...

    The 2025 Portland Handicap

I would be interested in Jer Batt for this, as he's in really good form, and strikes me as a horse who will be keeping on at the finish, and relish that extra half a furlong. The only problem at present is he is also entered over 5F on Sunday, and has a jockey booked to ride. I await to see...

f%*& me, didn't that go well. A 3 year old colt. I should have known.

Haydock 3.35 If this race turns messy and there's about a quarter of a length between the first ten horses home then Rage Of Bamby could prove overpriced. The mare put up a career best on her penultimate start and the drop to six furlong looks right. 40/1 a decent longshot perhaps.

    The 2025 Ascot Handicap

Cheers, Danny. I had a decent sized ante post bet on him earlier in the week. I was sweating it out when I later realised he was 32 in the list to get in, but thankfully I should get a run for my money. I enjoyed reading your thoughts on him. Good luck getting 33s!

Are you based in the U.K? "15.00 hours" Sound like an Australian or South African to me. Just saying.

It bleeding well could be testing ground. Lope De Vega is indeed an influence for soft or heavy ground in the progeny I believe. While I like Novelista as a horse, and I think he's gutsy, it would be a big ask against the older horses. I'd probably sit it out and see how he does, knowing in...

Novelista broke his maiden tag today. He could win a Ceserewitch next season if connections take the plunge. 🤣 Edit, he's entered in it this year. Crikey. 🤣

    The 2025 Ascot Handicap

I'd throw Afentiko in the mix at a fair price. I'd rarely be wanting to back a three year old colt against the older brigade, given he's still probably developing and strengthening up and all that, but maybe this perceived negative might work out as a positive if he's got more to give than what...

Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse's Unofficial Blog

I'm looking forward to you hopefully starting the threads for next Saturday tomorrow, Ian. There's rain due at Haydock, what impact this has on the ground I don't know. If it comes up softish, this will affect the dynamic, I'd have thought.

What are you backing Today? Part 2

I don't think the rain will come in time for Prydwen today. I'm on anyway. Small stakes.

    Irish Cambridgeshire on Saturday

I'm now considering taking a wild chance on the horse Ian mentioned, Jagged Edge. Right, it's been a long day, I'm off for an early night. I want to see the markets tomorrow.

    Irish Cambridgeshire on Saturday

I find the drift on Coeur off putting. I haven't backed anything yet and am considering jumping ship. The more I look at the race the more I see a minefield. I think I wrote somewhere before Big Gossey's last run that he was getting better as he got older. That was a Group 3 over 6F so he can...
