    Newmarket other races

Might sound like a dumb question, but what is the point of running The Middle Park and Dewhurst on the same day? You have a 6f G1 for 2yos and the next race being a 7f G1 for 2yos. If the Dewhurst was a 1m or 9f I could see the point.

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe 2012

His schedule will be dictated by Japanese quarantine rules. Probably needs to go into quarantine fairly soon, if not right away, to get back in time for Japan Cup and the big race on St Stephen's day (Arima Kinen??).

Why are the Japanese horses not coupled in the betting?

    Breeder's Cup

Sealing the track is something they do after some rain and with more heavy rain forecast. By sealing it you essentially squeeze out some of the moisture that has gotten into the dirt, but you also make it hard packed, the idea being to get any more water to sheet and run off so it doesn't...

Qipco Champions Day - Was it a Success

Handicaps should definitely not be G1s. Those racing should be the domain of the top horses running on a level or WFA pegging. You'll end up like the Melbourne Cup where some plodder gets in on a low weight and beats a genuine top quality horse and is never heard from again.

    Would this work ?

Who would bother showing up for £250k in Nov (in a potential bog at time of year)? When you can run for a handy $3m in the BC Turf, or go to Japan and run for real money.

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe 2011

Bizarre race. Half the field never got going. They should give them a chance to get a breather and re run it in a hour.

    Cape Blanco

When in Rome. I don't agree with using Lasix either, but if every other horse in the race can use, then why not. Same with the whip. Why would you put yourself at a disadvantage?

    Cape Blanco

True. I think this race will take a lot out of him. Surely Aidan has a capable assistant he can leave with the horse stateside, so he doesn't have to keep flying him back and forth? All this crossing the Atlantic, makes me tired just thinking about it. If he was mine, and I was coming back for...

    Cape Blanco

Just made it three trips to America and three G1 wins to show for it, with a win in the Turf Classic at Belmont. He had to work for this one though, Dean's Kitten almost caught him on the line, the bob of a head separating the two. I would think he will go back to Tipperary and then return to...

    ZENYATTA - 15 not out!

Jerry Moss is worth billions, he hardly needs the money. As to her being the greatest... the point is she could very well be the greatest, but we will never know, because she is forced to race against vastly inferior opposition. I'm sure glad ol' Lord Derby didn't adopt the same plan with Ouija...

    ZENYATTA - 15 not out!

On the one hand it's hard not to be impressed with her, and she is uber talented. But it is such a huge pity that Shirreffs and the Mosses are so totally conservative in their choice of races. As one of the top ranked horses in the world, and almost certainly the top ranked American main track...

    King George (Ascot)

Looking at the results of the Tatts derby sale, it surprises me the number of unbroken unamed 3yos by Westerner out there. Granted, some are out of out and out NH mares, but surely some of the others would be worth a spin on the flat to see what they are capable of and then go over the sticks.

    Coral Eclipse

Is Chabal going? I thought I heard they were pointing him towards French G2 or G3 later in July.

    The Derby

Haskell is 9f. maybe you are thinking of the Travers? Today's French Derby winner will go on to emulate his grand dad and beat this year's crop of American 3yo in the Breeder's Cup Classic at Churchill in Nov, only to get beaten by Zenyatta's nose. You heard it here first.

    Horse Lost on firing range!

A year or two ago there were two horses with the same name in the same race at Fairplex in California, one Irish bred and one US bred. Only time I've ever seen that.

    Man Of Iron

This horse seems to be between a rock and a hard place. He appears to perform better on AW, and his breeding would also suggest dirt. However he also appears to need a distance of ground, like his siblings, which he won't find on dirt or AW.

    Breeder's Cup Meeting

Sure does in hindsight. Conduit almost gets robbed by PP. Mastercraftsman beaten by a $16k claimer Rip... up the track. Fame and Glory.... one trick wonder?
