[FONT=&quot]Last year we eventually managed to find sponsors from within our forum who generously put forward sums of £100 for the winners of each competition plus £50 for the best pre Festival portfolio in the AP and £50 in vouchers as a secondary prize in the TTF, a total of £400.

[FONT=&quot]I’m conscious the burden of sponsorship seems to fall on the same few every year, and it’s only fair they have first chance this year, however they may feel they’ve done their bit so in that event we also have to ask the question whether anyone else is prepared to put up a similar sum this year, whether individually or jointly, for any of the competitions, OR as was muted last season before sponsors came forward, whether we pay for our entries via a Paypal button in the relevant threads. A Paypal account is not needed, Col and I tested this system last year and it could work on this board, although obviously demanding a lot of extra administration.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]38 players entered the TTF last year so at a maximum of three teams per player, entries would need to be in the region of £1 per team (£3 per player) to raise a prize fund of £100. Owing to a variety of reasons, entries in other competitions are down this year, so it may be that we need to amend the winning prize to “the value of total entry fees” which may be less than £100. 48 players entered the AP so we may get away with a £2 entry fee for that one if we need to go down that route.

[FONT=&quot]With the Summer Tipping Competition running until October 22[SUP]nd[/SUP], both TTF and AP competitions are scheduled to start on November 1[SUP]st[/SUP] this season.

[FONT=&quot]The TTF and AP have a few minor changes although the formats remain the same, whilst the Winter Prize will also run in its usual format. List of horses for TTF and rules for the TTF and AP will be posted at least seven days before their respective starts.

[FONT=&quot]For those who like to have an interest, especially watching at home, we will also run one or two “just for fun” tipping competitions during the Winter (that is unless someone comes up with a prize) one of which will be “The Cheltenham Challenge” based on the Cheltenham meetings this season.

my two penneth worth…

* The Winter comps (particularly Ante Post) are amongst the best around

* Personally, don’t think charging entry fee’s is the right route as will only limit numbers and we should be looking to boost these – especially from those who post very little or just view. Also think not many (if any) are motivated by the prizes

* I’m happy to put £50 towards the winter prize pool

* We do not have too many comps and think there is scope to increase a little. Happy to be involved organising if required

I too will add the 50 euro to best dark horses, given there be a different one in each team or as a wooden spoon prize, whichever is decided by those who do all the work here.

Thanks eddie, we'll go for Best Dark Horse this year, one of the rule changes this year is that each team must have a different dark horse anyway.

We'll use Perp's £50 for the person whose pre festival portfolio has the highest notional value which just leaves us with the main sponsor to find for the Ante Post competition and we're set up for another year.

Will put up the TTF competition rules and list of horses late Sun or Mon, gives everyone three weeks to sort their teams out or make any amendments . Then,once the Champions Day inter forum competition is out of the way next weekend I'll put up the Cheltenham Challenge thread Monday week (17th), four days before their first meeting and the AP rules Monday 24th

TTF and AP competitions start Nov 1st.

Due to kick off the Cheltenham Challenge next week, sponsored by Roddy to the tune of £100. Just wondered what sort of competition players prefer. At the moment it's a fairly standard format of selection in every race on all the days next season with a nap settled as double, with a daily bonus for top player and a another bonus for the top player across each month, but we could change it to a multiples eg patents, yankees, super yankees or make it a Tote dividend competition or maybe a points for first four in each race like we do for Royal Ascot. Any preferences ? ( or suggestions)

Having to make a selection in every race is a bit daunting for a lazy chap like myself. I'd prefer making only two or three selections.
