As we close out the year, Japan ends it's G1 Flat Season with the Hopeful Stakes and the 70th Running of the Arima Kinen. They are both Run on the Nakayama Racecourse in Tokyo, the Hopeful Stakes at 2,000m (1m 2f) and the Arima Kinen in 2,500m (1m 4.5f). The Arima Kinen is considered an all star type race with the Japanese people voting on the horse they want to see at the race, with the top 10 most voted horses qualify to go, unless a horse in the top 10 opts not to race then it trickles down to the next available until they have 10 horses, the next 8 are decided by prize money.

This year we have returning favourites from last years race

Regaleria being the winner of the 2024 Arima Kinen returning after winning the 2025 Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Kyoto, shes a 4 year old mare who was dealing with inconsistencies in her classic year, 6th place at the 2024 Satsuki Sho, 3 5th places at the Japanese Derby (Tokyo Yushun), G2 Rose Stakes and the 24 QEII Cup. Before an 11th place at the other all star race, the 2025 Takarazuka Kinen, a win at the G2 All Comers which lead to the 25 QEII Cup.

Danon Decile, having a really good overseas year, beating Calandagan at the Dubai Sheema Classic, before a 5th Place at the Juddmonte International Stakes in York, then being BOTR at the 2025 Japan Cup in 3rd.
