2025 Melbourne Cup - Race Prediction, Tips, Picks, & Expert Thoughts on Which Horse Will Win On The Day

I've watched the caulfield Cup a lot of times and everything seemed to be finishing well.
I was reading views from Australia and their picks.
Valiant king 7 and Presage nocturne 4 were the top 2.

Land Legend is one of my noted horses in previous seasons in UK so I've had an ew.

66/1, wide draw, no chance.

Torrazino is in the form of his life - if equally effective over 2m in this he might run alright.
When this 40+ machine beast inevitably wins, Walsworth has promised to go full "Men At Work" and serenade the forum with his own unique version of "Down Under:"

Was on my short list cos of the jockey booking but his last 2 runs have been dire.
Last and last.put me off.

I had a horrible time watching the live feed, both on the link on this thread and two different bookmaker websites. I had to wait for the replay on the Attheraces website.

I was glad to see Torranzino hold on for fifth, for some each way returns anyway.

River of Stars it seems ran well for my little ew investment. Didn't watch it live but annoyed to see Betfair wankers return 12-1 even though I know I clicked SP.... and Bet365 (my other account) were generous enough to not give out 4 places - utter wankers! Did they actually look to see how many runners there were?

Just watched the race.

(I did happen to wake up to go for the obligatory pee at 3.55am but decided if I watched the race I wouldn't get back to sleep.)

Anyroads...

I'm so glad I kept stakes to sweetie money on Abathascan. What a pathetic ride it got. Started off well just inside the eventual winner but the jockey then allowed the winner to cut him off and then the jockey didn't have the gumption to work his way off the rail so by half-way he was among the last few runners and still on the inside. Frankel wouldn't have won off 8-0 off that kind of ride.

It was an 80/1 shot so obviously unlikely to win but the jockey never gave it a chance.

Well done backers of the impressive winner and I don't imagine JP will be too upset after picking up half a mil for finishing second. That's better than winning most races at Cheltenham or royal Ascot.

I couldn't get any of the feeds working either. For future ref, WH worked (without even needing a bet).
WH worked for a few furlongs and then packed in for me.

I think I'd rather pay the tenner Attheraces subscription next year for guaranteed coverage.

Not ideal but anyway. You get what you pay for sometimes.

With credit to @DarranPearce on Twitter.

NB In Australia they can only offer 3 places on the races so Bet365 have two separate markets on the race. If you go to Flemington 4.00 on Tuesday you will find the Aussie market if you want their 5 places market then go to the Ante-Post Australian section on the site

Thanks for that info - can you remind me next year or I will have forgotten and still be moaning!

I watched it on betfair.it stopped once when they were loading and when I managed to get it back they were underway.
